I bought/sliced and froze a cheese/onion quiche the other week. Dragged that out of the freezer, ate 1/3rd immediately, two to go. I'll eat those tomorrow.... I've the last of some opened beans that can go with one of those, the last portion of chips that might be a good fit ....

Tomorrow I probably really need to crack on and cook/mash/freeze the 5Kg or so of spuds that will shortly start to sprout. Three bags of 2.5Kg bought 18-30 December, hardly put a dent in them so far. All 29p/bag "bargains".... but that's one heck of a spud mountain.

I might also chuck a chilli together as I've a pack of beef mince cluttering up the freezer.... although cooking it won't change that as once I've used it to cook something it'll then have to go back IN the freezer... so, on reflection, that's probably not a great idea. I might save that until the weekend when I can actually eat it.

Money- next time just freeze the cheese especially parmesan, grate it first, then add to pizzas pasta, or cheese sauce.

Been for my spa day today with dd2, paid for by dd1. It included afternoon tea, mine was gluten free tuna and lettuce/cheese and tomato sandwiches, and meringue with whipped cream raspberries and raspberry puree. There was fudge , truffles (ate 2 ) and nougat. Needless to say I couldn't eat it all.
Just had hm gf pizza, peppers chilli s, onion, mushrooms, chicken, and cheese.
Going to my friends shortly, for a catch up.
The weather is atrocious, hail and sleet, high winds. Just feel like hibernating! !
Glad you enjoyed your spa day:), you're brave venturing out tonight:eek:

Oh, it was really simple. I just saw it in a cholesterol lowering thing. I think I posted it earlier on the thread. Can't seem to find it.

It was just cooked lentils with olive oil, garlic (I used garlic puree) dried herbs, salt and pepper and fresh lemon juice. I used some vinegar too. You leave it for a while and then the flavour sticks to the lentils. I added some finely chopped spring onions today. It would probably be nice on crackers with olives, houmous and falafel.:)
That sounds really nice, I make one like this for vegan friends http://www.foodohfood.it/en/second-course/legumes/212-red-lentil-and-mushroom-pate, the mushrooms add a really nice taste to it:)

Meg - what about HM tapenade or pesto (with veggie friendly cheese) for your GD? Both freeze ok if she couldn't use them straight away.

LOL I couldn't find it either, though knew I had seen it, how long would it keep?

Do you have outside meter cupboard? or frost free shed. I am just finishing a 25kg bag of potatoes bought in September, did share with OH and DD and now starting on the 25kg sack bought in November.

I've had rats in the past, wouldn't put anything edible outside... they gnawed the bottom of the shed and if they came back it wouldn't take long to finish that job off.

Meter cupboard is the standard modern plastic box about 4" deep mounted on the wall.

no idea today and not much inclination, I have knitting to do, luckily something with yarn that is enthusing me, gripping, on and on from one row to another. Listened to LBC much of the time and womans hour and the archers

I have a casserole ready to eat, last meal as my tummy likes it. Just need to cook the last of the cauli to go with it. Lunchtime, sardines on big round rye crispbreads, miso soup from a packet and whatever fruit I can find.

Far too windy and rainy for any outdoors activity but I will be content with what I am doing

    Good morning everyone,
The weather is still foul so another day where I shan't be venturing out!
The spiced chicken & lentil recipe I made last night was really tasty:), I've two portions for the freezer and a "spare" chicken thigh which I'll have for lunch with some salad. Tonight I've a pork steak defrosting so I 'll have that with the extra spuds I cooked on Monday and a couple of stuffed flat mushrooms.
I started watching "A House in Time" on BBC I-player last night which I found really interesting so the second episode will take care of my TV watching today:)

I just dragged the three bags of spuds from the cupboard to look. The oldest bag are starting to sprout, so I'll cook those today. The Maris Pipers aren't doing too badly, so they can be left.

But then .... I found an unexpected parsnip! I knew I'd bought two for Xmas dinner and that 2nd one had occasionally come to mind, but I convinced myself I must've cooked it as I hadn't seen it. It was buried under the spuds :)

It's still OK :) Need to decide what to do with it .... but it's not essential today. I don't want to make another nut roast as I still have 2-3 portions of the one I made for Xmas Day in the freezer and I don't think I've got an onion either. I don't want to roast it. I'll work out what I fancy in a bit no doubt.

I've got a lurking parsnip too:rotfl::rotfl:, mine also is going to lurk for a bit longer unless I can find my mojo to make soup today ;)
  • I don't know why but the forum keeps being weird with me, saying I am trying to post twice and not letting me quote people.

I think I will have to log out later to see if it helps at all!

Money - it was apple cider vinegar. I have malt as well. I'm not really fond of balsamic.

Meg72 - I'm not sure how long the lentil spread would keep as I haven't tested that yet. Probably a day or two?:)
