So can my bolognese be cooked the same way? I put it on to defrost but 10 mins later it was still frozen!
Can I not just zap it for 10 mins or so at full power?
Just zap it for as long as it takes to get it all hot..... how long that takes will depend on the volume, the size/shape of the dish and power of the nuker .... but, yes, doing "similar to what a box says" is the way to go for clues.
Just get it hot. Eat.
It's as simple as that.
Nothing "dangerous" in there to be worried about at all.0 -

Thanks PN common sense told me as much but it's always good to have a 2nd opinion'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Quick answer - absolutely:D. Nuke for 3-4 minutes, stir, repeat for 2-3 minutes stirring after each until it is all piping hot. (How long will depend on portion size /microwave power - just remember to stir so the edges don't catch;))
Thanks caron..it was frozen in an average sized take away carton, but not full by any means.
Thank youx

oils: some oils are highly beneficial, olive, organic rapeseed for example. Plant oils such as sunflower oil are very unstable, and are best bought in small bottles, kept cool and dark , not left in the light and never re-used. Olive oil is not good for cooking at a high temperature, rapeseed is good. Oil should be treated with respect and carefully, some are very prone to oxidation and release nasty substances. Personally I keep some cold pressed organic rapeseed oil in the fridge in a dark bottle and I keep a small amount of olive oil in a can in a cupboard. I never use any other oil
Food today: oats, hemp and amaranth soaked overnight in milk, few prunes and added berries. Mug of mint tea
lunch: pasta bake, hm tomato/pepper sauce, pasta, flageolet beans, a cube of feta. Dark chocolate
Last meal: smooth comforting hm turkey casserole in a bowl. I have to make that today and know the turkey will `melt` into a lovely consistency, eaten with a spoon. Some for tomorrow and there will be 2 portions to freeze. I have a celeriac so will add that into the casserole in very small cubes. Flavoured with 5 spice, star anise, cinnamon, soya sauce and thickened at the end. Probably served with some brassica veg0 -
Trying to think what to do with feta besides Greek Salad currently. Any ideas anyone? I feel I want to use that packet of feta I've got in the Cheese Mountain - because it's organic (ie dearer).
Also think I might use up one of the packets of halloumi (because it's a good quality one - don't want to waste that much money). So I know I can use up that halloumi by having a few slices of it grilled with a salad or Buddha Bowl or whatever.
Then it's down to cheapie brand mozzarella, a packet of Parmesan (don't know what brand) and a standard range halloumi. So I'm prepared to chuck that money in the bin if no-one wants it.
So tiny bit of that soft goats cheese (finishing it today) and those two dearer packets of cheese I shall probably use up and then bin the rest. I haven't got the excuse of "not knowing" what size I should be - as I measured and weighed myself back in the 1970s/80s - so I would always remember what I "should" be. So I should be 36/26/36 and 8.5 stones and I've got no excuse for being unaware of an extra few inches and 2 stones having crept on.
I think we all know our own weaknesses. Put a load of food down in front of me and I can easily resist it - if I don't "really" want it and there's nothing new "I havent tried yet" there. But the cheese weakness and having a glass (or two) of wine for "consolation purposes" if Life is "playing up" are my weaknesses.
At least there's no longer "loadsa meetings" in "smoke-filled rooms" of my earlier days - cue for automatically buying drinks to have at them LOL.0 -
Do you like cauliflower? This is one of my feta comfort foods of choice. And you can freeze some for another time if you leave it with a bit of bite.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

I looked at my notes and I have lost 9 lbs since I had the blood test in the summer so it definitely must be Lyrica causing the higher cholesterol. That is so annoying as I had to stop taking the first med the doctor gave me because of the weird side effects too. Oh well, maybe just stay away from medication if I can.
Sorry, anyway off topic.:p
I have only had some lemon water so far today. I'm going to have a blueberry, apple and almond milk smoothie.
I'm going to make a red lentil spread again and have it on toast. That was delish.Need2bthrifty wrote: »Wednesday and Spirit rather than going for porridge oats what about trying something else along the same lines

Or trying this, I went through a phase of having semolina for breakfast it was very nice and very comforting

I've only had quinoa as a savoury, but It's worth a try.I quite like porridge with banana or blueberries on top. Also came across overnight oats soaked in Apple juice and then log a few blueberries on top.
I don't mind porridge. I just don't like it that much. I did when I was a kid so I'm not sure what has happened. It is nicer with fruit.

Good morning everyone,
It's dreary here today, no snow yet though there's loads not far away, we're getting sleety rain. Not sure what my plans are for today but I'll not be straying further than the bin.
LO red cabbage for lunch and spicy chicken & lentils for dinner so at least meals are planned.
Money - I like feta cubed and popped on top of ratatouille then baked until golden, ideally served with a wodge of good bread to mop the juices0
