Sorry to read about your sister Brambling.x
I hate this hot, humid weather. I had some fresh fruit and soya yoghurt for breakfast as it felt too warm for anything else.1 -
Good morning everyone,
I hope your sister is okay Brambling x
Wet and warm here today, we had some spectacular thunder and lightning overnight which has reduced the temperature but not by much. Yesterday was too hot for me tbh, my garden has little by way of shade so it was early evening before I ventured out to do some more planting.
Domestics today I think and probably a snooze this afternoon as it was too hot to sleep much last night. I think I'm CFO tonight as my son usually gets a chippy but we'll see what the day brings.

I felt hungry so I had an avocado sandwich on wholemeal bread.
I have some leftover tofu, courgettes and orange pepper that I made last night so I will have that for my second later lunch.2025 GOALS

Sorry to hear that Brambling, hope all's as well as can be expected. It's the suddenness of some things that catch one on the hop ....
Nothing spectacular foodwise to report, been eating sandwiches, noodle pots, sweeties, doritos. Went into a CoOp yesterday, for an ice cream + cucumber/bread, tiny place it was, couldn't find either cucumber or bread and when it came to ice creams the freezer was in the corner and the man in front of me stood in front of the almost empty cabinet and phoned somebody and was shouting "what do you want?" several times, but then lost them/couldn't get a signal, lost them, tried/dialled again and was standing/shouting again, so I decided they probably didn't have any anyway. So, no ice cream, no cucumber, no bread. Into Aldi for the same: no cucumbers whatsoever, bit of a nuisance as I'd already picked up the bread, so bought bananas.... ice creams were only present in 4-packs and more, so no ice cream for me. Can't remember the last time I had one from a shop, singly, probably 20+ years!
Might go out for chips in a bit.... current status is: hiding/trapped in room as LL/bf are in the garden and I have no wish to acknowledge their presence and feel forced to make eye contact, nod, say hello of anything, in case they start some conversation I have no wish to be part of. (I think it's called social chit chat ... and I've no time for that, or them, so hiding is preferable).1 -
Good evening everyone,
Sounds as though your LL lives a "complicated" life, still not long now until it will no longer impact on you!
After a wet day it's dry now, though going by the sky and the thunder rumbles in the distance that won't last long!
I'm CFO tonight as my younger son is holed up in the dining room online with my elder son & his fiancee and my nephew. They are having a "casino" night and apparently my boys are going to teach my nephew how to play poker!!! (For virtual cash I should add.) They've been warned not to lead him astray. I'm opting to stay well clear and leave them to it :-)
AF chicken wings with sweet potato "chips", mushrooms and peppers for dinner. It will be my first try out of my own AF but as it's the same one as my son has which we've used loads I think I've mastered it

So, I got a clear run at leaving without interaction .... and legged it to the chippy.
Today I chose Cornish pasty & chips. Pasty was £2.80 - a price I struggle to pay in a proper Cornish pasty specialist shop when it's fresh and hot. What I got wasn't a Cornish pasty .... I got a cheap, small, microwaved/'soggy', traditional pasty, crimped on the top, with carrot bits in it. Thoroughly miffed.... it's illegal to sell a pasty and call it Cornish unless it is! The gits.
He's had it from me.... it was never a good chippy, just a convenient and cheapish one... I'll be moving, there are other chippies and more food options on the horizon. He can stuff his Cornish pasty fake food right up his ..... I don't forgive or forget.

That's a lot of money for a manky pasty PN no wonder you're spitting feathers over it, just think this time next week you would be nuking your own food 🙂
I would deny knowledge of the poker Caronc, you don't want to get in your sisters' bad books 😁
I woke feeling like I had a hangover which considering I haven't had alcohol for weeks is annoying, I'm assuming I didn't drink enough water in the heat, I also didn't sleep very well, therefore breakfast was painkillers and dry crackers. Lunch was the same as yesterday fresh pineapple and melon. Dinner was stir fried vegetables with prawns and noodles including my first courgette of the year 🙂 slightly concerned as there seems a lot of half grown ones out there. I also had some rhubarb and strawberries chilled from the fridge which is my favourite way of eating it if I'm avoiding crumble
The poor dwarf blackberries are holding their own so have been popped into a container (not one of the bigger new ones) I'm hoping that as normal blackberries tend to be hardy these will to and will be forgiving of their dodgy start and I'll get free blackberries next year from them. We had a shower this evening not really enough but I'm hoping for more tomorrow so haven't watered I'll see what the tomatoes look like in the morning, I noticed some very tiny baby tomatoes tonight 🙂Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin3 -
Rain overnight, and still at it, saves you a job Brambling, and me of course, plus PN the LL at least won't be in the garden. Soon be gone from there and a normal life againBrambling, my blackberries are turning colour now, reddish tinged, and this rain will either swell or rot them. Two chances, last year it manked themReally enjoyed last nights F & C, the F is Morries frozen cod fillets in crumbs, very "meaty". not f"ormed from" paste, at a price of courseThe FR beef joint is a big un, over 1 kg, defrosted overnight & now in the SC.I reckon it will keep me going for a while, some no doubt returning to the freezer for another dayLunch, I may just open my last cream of tom soup tin with this dull & wet weather, needs using up really, along with some stale crusts for dunkingDinner, SC beef, with steamed fresh [actually limp & lifeless but hoping it perks up in water] cabbage via ND from T*sco, with carrots and if it stops raining some own garden peas.I'll pop some of Aunty B's frozen roasts in as well. I wonder if she'll become a PC non person like Uncle Ben?Some time today I'll start on my next C & C order from Asd@, certainly not venturing into shops anytime just yetEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

Good afternoon everyone,
And still it rains with more thunder forecast for tomorrow so a day indoors for me I think. It's a good bit cooler, quite a pleasant temperature after the heat and stuffiness of the last couple of days.
The boys virtual casino night went well and my nephew has a range of new skills apparently (I'm scared to ask what they are lol!!) but going by the amount of coffee and water my son has consumed so far he's suffering a bit today....
Dinner tonight is tbc as we were originally planning to bbq, I've pizza in the fridge so might just go with that as I'm lacking inspiration. Salady bits for lunch or maybe a toastie.1
