BRAMBLING I don't follow a recipe for potato n leek soup, just bung more leek than spuds in the pan, with a white onion, n 2 stock cubes, simmer, cool then blitz:p
I'm not into soups with cream though x
PS I sometimes add a tiny squirt of garlic n chilli puree

I've ended the day having eaten:
    1 packet of crisps.
    1 L1dl pot noodle.
    1 4ldi pouch of nuke egg/fried rice.

I'm not hungry, but I am yearning for "a few proper meals". I'd love to have, say, a week of wandering into a pub each day and simply ordering a meal from a menu. I even made a list today of the sorts of things I'd be ordering :)

Nothing fancy .... just bangers/mash, pie/chips, quiche/chips, chilli, curry, fish/chips. Just the usual pub grub.

I might treat myself on Friday to a meatless carvery again (different branch to last one) ....

Food is complex for me, too long winded to type out here as it's a complex and multi-faceted issue .... I see it as "at least you're eating". :)

    And it's not all sweeties.

In my own home, with a kitchen I can face, I eat a lot of protein. Loads of beans and cheese, say.... and eggs.

    Good afternoon everyone,
I can't blame pregnancy for the banana/pickle combo it's tame compared to my "must have" when I was expecting my second - toast spread with thick cut marmalade then topped with a mix of cottage cheese and grat6ed carrot. The very thought now makes me_pale_
My dairy-free L&P is pretty much as CG's I do usually tend to add a couple of splashes of milk but it's fine without it. I start my onion & leeks in a goodish amount of butter.
PN <hugs> if nothing else I hope you manage more calories today if not a proper meal.
No snow here though it was sleeting heavily when I went to bed, it's just very cold and wet.
My poor sis has had a rubbish 24 hours - kaput heating (temporarily fixed) and two leaks:eek:. All unrelated, her my nephew were here just after 7am to use the shower so I was up much earlier than usual though I did sneak back to bed to read for an hour after they went.
The cheese pudding was fab and there is enough left for a couple of lunches if I have something else with it. As it's Baltic, today it's will be a mug of HM soup from my freezer stash. I've some cooked turkey (Christmas LO;)) defrosting for tonight to make a stir fry or similar for dinner.
  • I didn't feel that hungry at breakfast so I only had a handful of cashew nuts and a satsuma with a cup of tea.

I was then watching some food videos on YouTube and got really hungry so I had veg sausages, two jacket potatoes, steamed veg and gravy for lunch.:D

L's first thing, very poor for YS these days, having found the YS area there's nowt in there, I don't count yukky mixed salad leaves. Never mind, the choc fingers [AKA L's kit kats] are a suitable substitute;)

Lunch was cheese & tom sarnie, the mashed tinned pea sarnie sounds "interesting" but I'll pass while I've cheese.

    Same applies to "three squeaks"

I do sometimes have a raw mushroom sarnie, I caught that habit from DS during his student years

Dinner is last of the cooked YS ham & warmed up LO spud N onion layers, tasty but glad to see the back of it now

PN, pub crawl with a difference, sounds a good idea, I like pub grub, nothing pretentious and mostly reasonably priced & sized

I regret leaving our rhubarb crowns on the allotment when we gave it up I may have to see where I can put one in the garden

That's one reason I removed a currant bush, to put rhubarb in, always room for that. Crowns now on sale in Wilko, £2;) I bought a "Raspberry Red"

I felt more "able" to cook more food today, so opened a tin of meatballs in tomato sauce and had the whole can with a pouch of vegetable rice. My usual habit would be to split that tin down into two halves and pot one half up in the fridge.... but I've still got heeby jeebies about that fridge.

I can't bear to be near "dirty things", not just untidy, but where you can see there's been no attempt at ongoing basic cleanliness over time/months/years.

I did clean "my shelf", but then it was robbed from me.... and I did clean the 2nd one my things were moved to ... but not so whole-heartedly. Then my empty shelf space was squatted by an item that wasn't mine.

I'm one of those "what's mine's mine" types. If you say XYZ is mine then even if it's entirely empty it's not yours to assume and use. It's mine....

    Good evening everyone,
Hope you are home alone this time PN ;)and glad you've had some hot food :)
We now officially have a "Dr in the family" as my son's fianc!e passed her Viva this afternoon:D:D . My nephew also feels his audition went as well :D and my sis is semi on top of the leaks!! :) She popped by a wee while ago for a natter (and a hug) and looked completely exhausted having been up most of last night.
The weather continues to be cold, wet and miserable, I ended up having both the heating and the stove on this afternoon which is very unusual for me during the day but my many layers weren't cutting it and I refuse to wear outdoor clothes indoors!!! Still no sign of snow but the garden was white for a while with huge hailstones :eek:. I'm glad I did my errands in town yesterday. Tomorrow looks much the same but I will need to pop to the post box at some point.
Dinner is a turkey, veg and brown rice concoction - basically a bung in a pot with some stock & seasonings and hope for the best affair. Smells good though there will be no points for presentation :rotfl::rotfl:
