It was quite nice and bright yesterday morning and then tipped it down when we got home. I just pulled the curtains and put on warm socks and my pyjamas.:D
I just had a healthy smoothie, hmm, I think it needed another banana for more sweetness!
I'm trying the matcha powder in my smoothie as it is meant to give you a boost like caffeine but without the side effects. I will see if I notice any difference.
I have run out of almond milk so I can't have my normal black tea anyway. Well, I could without milk but I don't like it as much.:p0 -
Up later this morning, no real reason as I did have a very good night's kip.
Rain's stopped so after breakfast it was down to the PO sorting office, similar parcel problems as CG, except they took mine back to the SO, round here I'm normally the "take a parcel in neighbour" so I guess everyone else was out earning a crust when my parcel arrived.
Parcel was loose Portsmouth blend tea FYI which I prefer to tea bags these days, nothing eco about it for me, just prefer the flavour and it's no more trouble using my small teapot than it is using a bag
Lunch is going to be a YS ham & tom sarnie, I've nearly used all the YS ham now, it was a good YS buy, I it cost £3 and although I don't cost my meals I lazy sums tells me I fed myself for just over a quid a day this weekend:money:

Last night, late, I opened a tin of peas, drained them, then ate them from the can with a fork.
Today a pot noodle will probably be involved.0 -

My Dad used to like a cold tinned pea sandwich PN , he roughly mashed the peas with a little vinegar & lots of black pepper then made a sarnie with them and sliced pickled onions. I can't say I ever fancied it but it probably tasted better than it looked.
No snow here but there's quite a bit round about so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a sprinkling tomorrow morning it is certainly cold enough. We did have a couple of heavy hail showers first thing but they had cleared by the time I headed to the library. While I was in town I popped to Farmfoods to buy butter (their butter is 99p per 250g which is much cheaper than anywhere else for proper butter so if I'm in the area I tend to pick up a couple of packs as they tend to have good use by dates on them). While I was in the shop I treated myself to a tin of Heinz tomato soup for my lunch, the single tins were 89p each :eek: but I did notice you could by 12 (2 x 6 multi packs) of tomato or chicken for £5 which is a good buy if you have the storage and/or eat a lot of tinned soup. I did enjoy it for my lunch though with plenty of L&P and pepper added so a cheap treat in the scheme of things.
My sis popped by to borrow my electric screwdriver, have a cuppa and a natter apart from that I've had a pretty quite afternoon. The slightly muzzy head I had yesterday which I thought was wine-related which no doubt contributed seems to have been the onset of the sniffles, just low level but lurking in the background. I'm hoping it's just a fleeting lurgy and an another early night will knock it on the head.
My beef olives last night were gorgeous, beautifully tender and tasty.:) I have two raw ones left to be frozen and I think they will be featuring again soon for dinner. Cheese pudding tonight with spinach, mushrooms and a small baked spud. I'll definitely get two portions from it (possibly three) and will use the spare for lunch(es) as I'm not sure how well it would freeze. It's been a good use up though between the egg yolks, some hitting OOD milk and the end of a block of very OOD cheddar that was beginning to go mouldy so needed using sooner rather than later. It's a thrifty dish at the best of times but even more so when it is stuff that was at risk of being wasted.:money:0 -

Evening all
I also have a slight tingling in my nose Caronc and I'm desperately hoping it's not the lurgy which seems to have started in the office. I'll up my preventative inhaler tonight just in case and hope for the best. I've stocked up on tissues :cool:

Excitement in town today a fire at the local college (it's empty so no students) but we could see from our windows, 10 fire engines from several towns across two counties according to the local news and the college are calling it a minor incident :shocked: probably because after being closed for four years they want to reopen it in September :cool:
Between the rain I popped into W8itrose for bananas and tissues and picked up a few other things as one does :cool: I couldn't resist the YS boned roll leg of welsh lamb it's just over 500g so not huge and I've managed to rejig the freezer to fit it in, I'm sure my sister will come around and help me eat it one weekend :rotfl: I was tempted to take out the chicken carcass just in case I need the chicken soupbut didn't need the room, just :rotfl: I also picked up YS rhubarb and blackberries, I wouldn't usually buy the 'forced' pale rhubarb but as it was reduced and then YS I did. I've cooked the rhubarb with some stem ginger and the blackberries with a lurking cooking apple they will do as yogurt or porridge toppings for breakfast. I regret leaving our rhubarb crowns on the allotment when we gave it up I may have to see where I can put one in the garden :think: A breaded Dover sole reduced from their fish count also fell into my basket :whistle:
Lunch was stuffed pepper and large tomato with LO roast cauliflower. Dinner was the dover sole with runner and French beans, broccoli and purple sprouting. The fish was quite big so I didn't do chips I just air fried the fishLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

however I like banana and Branston pickle toasties (though only if made in a Breville so they are sealed and not leaky) so probably can't cast judgement.:rotfl
_pale_ just wrong in so many ways however i remember one of my nieces dipping a banana in a jar of piccalilli when very pregnant and then going very green when realising what she was eating :rotfl:
Soup makers anyone got a fail safe leek and potato soup recipe with no cream? I've a glut of leeks :cool: i didn't remove them from the shopping list after I brought someI was put off making it a few years ago when a friend served me a large bowl with absolutely no seasoning or taste to it
