It's freezing out, so I didn't bother to go to L1dl on my way back.
As for the chippy, couldn't work out from the road if it's open or shut and as there was a car behind me didn't feel able to pull over and work out how to park on their forecourt, there's definitely an art to getting in there.... I'm a good/confident driver who knows their vehicle, but it's a tricky manoeuvre involving reversing off the road, over the pavement, onto their forecourt, beside a pedestrian crossing and with other boundary marker posts dotted about0 -
PN I really couldn't cope with that intrusion, n uncertainty. She needs a reality check, because landlords have to abide to basic rules"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

landlords have to abide to basic rules
Unfortunately, not when you're living in their house. Then it's not so black/white and there is no mechanism or law to shove in their face and say "No, you can't do that".....
Sometimes we're all sitting in bed in a stained T shirt, eating biscuits... and want to feel we at least have the right to step off the bed, pull on a dressing gown before walking to the door and opening it ourselves to see who is there/what they want.
I have PTSD, which isn't helped by her behaviours as it means I am constantly on "high alert/fear mode" since arriving.0 -
Dull old day outside, but I'm in waiting on meat delivery so not a problem, then it'll be freezer space shuffling time. I've already decided the not very nice frozen yorkies will be jettisoned if space gets tight
Porridge breakfast, pan of P & H soup removed from fridge for tonight's dinner. I suppose if the Yorkies are to be jettisoned I could pop a few on the soup, sort of Yorkshire croutons:D
Lunch will be cheese & cuc sarniePasturesNew wrote: »No, gross memories as a child of watching my mum undo tins of sardines in tomato sauce, then pick the spine off them, see the skin on them.... and then she'd eat them. *shudders*PasturesNew wrote: »As for the chippy, couldn't work out from the road if it's open or shut and as there was a car behind me didn't feel able to pull over and work out how to park on their forecourt, there's definitely an art to getting in there.... Sounds like my chippy's parking, but luckily there is a pub & my GP opposite for convenient parking at quite timesEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good morning everyone,
I just eat the "bits" in tinned fish, but a lot of the tinned mackerel in sauce, unlike sardines, are skinless and boneless so "bit-free".
I'm afraid I'd be finding somewhere else PN as I couldn't put up with that level of intrusion even if it was costly it would be worth it for the impact on my mental well being. As you say as a lodger the "rights" are all stacked in the LL's favour but if it is making you or will make you ill it might be worth thinking about what options you have though I appreciate it's a lot of cash to consider writing off.
Damp & grey again here this morning but still quite mild. Pea and ham soup again for lunch and the last of the hock meat for dinner tonight. Chores beckon this morning so I'll be wrestling with "Henry" in a bit and wafting the duster about. I'll mop through after lunch before I put my feet up for a bit and have a snooze.:)0 -
Hopefully a bit of respite PN - I think flights to China are still ok but returning could be a different matter if they restrict travel...0

The meat order arrived and all stashed away with a bit of freezer space to spare for that must have YS I may find any day now;)
I ordered some pots of posh local HM jam as well, looks good but taste will tell, still searching for the strawberry jam of childhood, with whole strawberries in there waiting to be fished out
Candygirl, I had to search for butter pie, then found I've had it but know it under it's spud & onion pie label. However I will certainly be making one now it is back in my mind
I was reading the W8rose mag while waiting for my meat order, and tip on using up LO XCFO cheese, sprinkle it in soup, a hot tip just in time
Dinner is the P & H soup with LO Stilton crumbled in:j Plus YS M & S grain bread for dunkingPasturesNew wrote: »Fingers crossed, eh. A nice 4-5 month lock down would suit me a treatEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
FARWAY , it's a Preston speciality, also known as Catholic pie, as it was very popular on Fridays when Catholics traditionally weren't allowed to eat meat
I'm having celery, n carrot batons, n camembert for tea, ooh la la :rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Good evening everyone,
Cheese in soup is always a winner Farway and a good use up for ends. I'm especially keen on some strong cheddar grated on top of L&P or cream of cauliflower and of course lovely French Onion with a piece of toasted cheese floating in it:). I'm less keen on stilton in soup for some reason, there was a spell when Broccoli & Stilton seemed to pop up everywhere but a wee bit sprinkled over the top of P&H sounds good.
Fingers crossed you're home alone for a few weeks PN
I had a large mug of P&H soup for lunch, a very large one actually as there was a bit spare after I portioned it and it's too nice to waste. I would usually have some crackers or bread with it but just had the soup today instead. Two tubs have been squished into the freezer, thankfully without any tetris being needed though they are in my big freezer rather than the one I usually stash cooked stuff in.
"Henry" has wielded, the dust re-arranged and the floors mopped - the most amount of physical stuff I've managed for a couple of weeks without being completely flattened, I was still mighty glad to head for a snooze while the floors dried. It was pretty mild earlier so as well as having the windows open, I opened the back door to speed up drying. It didn't take long which was good as mild though it was it's still pretty chilly in the scheme of things!
DIL-to-be's CV has been reviewed and feedback given, it only needed a couple of simple tweaks.
Macaroni tonight mixed with the remaining ham hock, leeks & cheese sauce, mushrooms and spinach. No doubt there will be LOs which I'll have for my lunch tomorrow. My younger son arrives home tomorrow evening, he's requested bangers and mash. I'll defrost a couple of rather lovely Cumberland sausage rings I have in the freezer as I know they are his favourite (and mine:cool:), make some mashed "neeps" and defrost some mash. I've loads of onions so will use them for the basis of the gravy. With some peas we'll be more than sorted:D. Any LO sausage (unlikely) will be used over the next couple of days. He's here until Sunday and as well as servicing his car, he'll stash a load of logs for me and various other chores so the least I can do is feed him well in return.:D0 -
Hopefully you're have a few weeks of peace PN
Farway I think you may have to make your own jam, I've heard you can make it in the bread maker
Today having spent some of lunchtime with the 22 year girl in the office I now officially feel old  i bit my tongue as she complained about having no money as January as a long month and we were paid early in Dec as she ate her LO takeaway which cost £20 last night but when she said she would have to ask her mum 'if she would borrow her some money'I found myself correcting her
. I can only hold my tongue for so long:rotfl:
Lunch was another wrap with veal and salad, I don't think I'll buy more as they're not very feeling. Lunch was more LO chicken this time with rice and vegetablesLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0
