  • I had the Cornish pasty cold yesterday but today I think I will heat it up and have it with steamed veggies and onion gravy and ketchup.

Morning all, quick check in before out with grandchildren. As forecast it's blowing a hooley & rain in the wind, luckily we'll be mostly indoors

It's pouring down here. We have a covered part to our garden but the wind has blown the rain right up the back doors.

    Good evening everyone,

That sounds like a lovely meal Brambling though I think next year I'd just make your sister beans on toast!

Have a great day out with the grandkids Farway, your daughter in law souds as though she's got the birthday cake lark sussed.
We seem to have escaped the storm PN, maybe one of your housemates could give some bread until you can get some?

That was quick whmf but at least you have some freezer space to stash some easy meals for post op.
Lurgy is still lurking but I dont feel quite as grotty this morning though I've pretty much lost my voice, I'm growling & squeaking like a teenage boy!!
Naan bread pizza for dinner and LO curry on toast for lunch.

I ended up combining breakfast with lunch ...I had 3 hash browns, 2 scrambled eggs and beans ... and popped a couple of fishcakes on the side :)

Still raining. LOADS of trees down in this area reported on FB... and one bizarre photo of a large/15' complete/intact garden shed upside down in the middle of a rural road, so god knows whether that was blown over a hedge, or dropped from a lorry!

A fairly local windspeed was recorded at 109.4mph.

    Good evening everyone,

Hope CFOers in the battered South are safe, warm & dry.
It's damp and chilly here but dry so a fairly decent night for the fireworks and carnival for a change.
I'm back from being shorn and what a laugh, when I arrived there was only one other customer in the shop, an ex-neighbour of mine who I'm still in touch with. Like me we've had the same hairdresser for over 25 years so we all know each other quite well so the banter was flowing. I've no idea what the junior must have thought......
Tom sauce is defrosted for my pizza but I've still to fully decide what toppings to have, I've salami in the fridge needing used or frozen so a little of that will probably feature along with some combination of veg, olives & cheese. I quite like to bake an egg on it but had one at lunch time to pad out the LO curry so will give that a miss tonight.

    Unexpected cake alert....

LL had made a cake and offered me a slice :)
    Rude to say no :)
    It was gorgeous.

Unexpected food is always tastier than if you'd thought of it/made it yourself :)

P.S. I should mention that part of the LL's business/income is afternoon teas etc and cafe experiences ... it's a boutique hotel here. So it was "proper cake", not "something somebody tipped out of a packet, mixed in a rush and poured into the nearest cake tin that looked like it'd do". Proper job! It also wasn't leftovers, it'd been made specially for her/family and probably just surplus to requirements.

You know when a delayed, messed with half hearted plan finally gets carried out, it's never the same exciting thing you started with ? Well that's what happened to the salmon I've been harping on about for days. Basmati was exchanged for Uncle Ben's Golden Vegetable Microwave Rice (an old chemo CBA favourite) but I forgot to season the rice - it can be a little bland, and my sense of taste seems particularly dull today, so it was a bit of a wash out and I just pretended that the peas in the rice were actually capers. Interms of unexpected cake - Mrs Un pointed out there was stollen in the larder - but not for long. Kuchen Meister from Iceland/Food Warehouse - vegan friendly too. A bit dry, but that might just be me

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

Shame about the salmon/rice not living up to expectations unrecordings at least there was lurking stollen:)

Fireworks are in full flow, I can here them but not see them unless I want to haul myself upstairs too look out the front bedroom window. They'll be reaching the finale soon and so far it has stayed dry.:D

Stollen does tend to lurk doesn't it

Normal fireworks beginning to peter out here - then the nutters start with the illegal stuff, which due to the unique geography round here, you can hear reverberate across the entire city

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
  • Fireworks are going off here too. I have the white noise machine on and music on very loud (Lily Allen at the moment) to stop my dogs from barking.

I had a sandwich for dinner along with some peanuts. I have stop buying salted peanuts as I keep eating them all the time if they are there!:p
