Hairdresser just off of the phone - mix up at their end and can I come tomorrow instead? Talk about opportune that suits me really well as don't really want to head out today and more than happy to reschedule.:)
Opting for a fishcake for dinner with spinach & peas and probably a few oven chips - don't seem to have lost my appetite despite the lurgy!

    Good evening everyone,

I've not made dal for a while Wednesday something else to add to my "to make" list.:)
The rain seems to have died back but it's still a miserable night and while today was definitely milder it's decidedly chilly again this evening.
I seem to have [STRIKE]been talked into[/STRIKE] volunteered to make a cake for the family gathering for my Nephew's 21st next weekend. Our family champion baker, although able to come along, is up to her eyes in just now so really not fair to ask her. I've to re-make one I did when he was tiny - "Shaun the Sheep":eek:. It's yonks since I've properly baked but I'm sure between myself & the kids we'll manage to produce something even if it's very basic. I'm just hoping the black fondant I ordered earlier arrives on time. It will be fun to see his face as he still talks about it......
Lurgy symptoms seem to have dried up a bit, paracetomel & fluids have worked wonders to reduce the generally grotty feeling though I can't say I feel like doing much. Thankfully apart from going to the hairdressers tomorrow I've got nothing pressing over the weekend. However, come Monday between cakes and family/party prep I've a busy week ahead so I'm going to indulge in a very lazy weekend. I'm debating if a medicinal glass of red might be beneficial this evening:rotfl::rotfl:

CG yuk leaks are never good hope it's not too bad. Sounds as you and Bon just need to snuggle up and pull the duvet over your heads <<hugs>>

ETA Complete change of direction for dinner - fancied spicy and handily there was a HM RM turkey, spinach & chickpea curry in the freezer. With a toasted greek pitta it hit the spot:)

I know the one, been meaning to go back since it re opened, looks like next year now. I saw pictures of the revamp in some magazine, looking good
    .

It's definitely worth a visit Farway, late spring is a good time for their azalea and rhododendron displays, there is a NT garden 10 mins up the road from them as well :)

I've just kicked out my sister and nephews, subtle hints don't work  I'd forgotten how bad one of my sisters is at playing games I had to keep reminding her we were on the same team so the aim was for us to win and not for her to sabotage me :). Dinner was a kind of Far East theme with chicken, salmon, lamb and Nasi Goreng, for dessert I made a lemon and coconut Bakewell and my nephew brought a chocolate birthday cake, after slaving over a hot stove my sister whose birthday it was said I don't know why you bothered a casserole would have been less work  I'll remember that next year. I was just rather impressed that other than a lemon, lime, French beans and tender stem broccoli dinner and dessert was all from supplies :D

We went to town between the rain and had lunch in the W8itrose wine bar :D

Candy I hope your leak is fixed

Good luck making Shaun Caronc I think you drew the short straw :rotfl:

Morning all, quick check in before out with grandchildren. As forecast it's blowing a hooley & rain in the wind, luckily we'll be mostly indoors

    Porridge & banana breakfast
Mid morning could just be tea & cake
    Lunch TBD
    Dinner TBD

Candy, bad luck on water leaks, they can be so elusive to track down and resolve

Caron, hope Shaun turns out well, my daughter in law has it cracked, she always makes the kids some stick together train using Orios , smarties, choc log rolls etc, no baking required, just visit to T8sco

It's vile weather here, driving rain, it's windy. There's a yellow weather alert on.

I have no bread-like items, which'd be the backbone of a breakfast choice... at worst one can always just have toast. So I'm a bit stuck what to eat as most food I have goes in or on a bread-like item.

I could have hash browns, scrambled eggs and beans ... or I could just have two fishcakes. Have to see what I do when I CBA to make something.
  • Have got my operation date through (that was quick) so I am now busy making soup and meals for the freezer for when I come home. I had been using foods up whilst suffering with back so have some room in freezer and will use some of the odds and ends from freezers in the soups.
