Absolutely dreadful. With younger children in the house, he's a potential danger. Earthie, wasn't it you that had your kids sleep in your room when you had airbnb people staying? If you can't get him shifted today, that might be an idea, I'm afraid :(

This is just what I was thinking.

He sounds a very nasty piece of work who always gets his own way. How dare he behave like that in your house, and talk to your children like that. Totally unacceptable.

Removing him is not a failure - it is keeping you and your children safe.

Thanks, I know it is appalling.

Ive had a stern word to say that is not acceptable and frankly disgusting, I've emailed the principle to say what has happened and the steps I've taken, and spoken to all of the children together to say not in each other's rooms at all.

No apology but he looked contrite.

Still not ruled out moving him on but at least now I have concrete record of what has happened so it will be easier. The food thing was just annoying. This is much more serious.

Btw OH thought I was overreacting. But we have ruled out fostering and also having male students until my kids are older.

Yikes sounds horrendous. Hopefully this is fed back to his parents too.

Dont hesitate to get rid of him if it continues!

    Thanks for all your support.

Had a great day with absolutely no swearing or anything untoward. My children and the students had plenty of time apart and we still managed some things together but it all went well. I'll keep the rules in place and I'll keep an eye on everything. Although he didn't apologise I think he has got the message.

Free trip to the sealife centre but then spent a little money in the shop as they rescue animals (£8 spent).

Health - great at the moment - I have been swimming in the sea of an evening on alternate nights - the middle night I am biking. walking, jogging (in and out of the sea such hard work) playing football on the beach and I've also downloaded some beach yoga and beach pilates which I haven't yet been brave enough to try.

I love the beach and want to go more, I want to get fit, and I want to make more of my evenings, spend time with the kids, also its free :), I make that 5 wins for going to the beach every evening.

    Wealth
I got paid for online tutoring and students, so £3000 in. Need to make sure I keep the costs down in the next few weeks. Key areas - groceries, activities with kids, entertaining.

    Life well Lived
I have been positively jumping out of bed on a morning at the thought of my first cup of tea in the forest clearing with a view of the sea. Just bliss and I am so blessed.

My word, that *does* sound heavenly!

BTW, I think you're right not to worry too much about an apology from The Student - he's a teenager, and he may well change his behaviour because he understands he's been wrong, but verbalising that into an apology ... that's beyond a lot of them, I'm afraid. The main thing is, he's got the message, good one.

What awful behaviour! I'm glad he seems to have got the message, hope things continue in the same vein as yesterday, which sounded lovely. Apart from that you sound so positive and upbeat! The moorings and evenings sound wonderful!

Another good day yesterday with the awkward one :) Still being vigilant though. I had a day off yesterday with just a bit of chatting at meal times and then left them to entertain themselves. They didn't really do anything so I'll encourage them to go out more this afternoon.

As it's my birthday OH is cooking tonight so we are having his speciality - haggis!

The kids have the last day of out of school care today paid for with leftover childcare vouchers. I feel a bit bad putting them in on my birthday but they get to make pottery today (I can feel a beautiful birthday present coming my way :) ). I'll collect them at 3pm and take them straight to the beach whilst OH cooks my tea - lovely!

Evening beach activities have really made me so much more positive. We have been cycling the last few days - ds2 enjoys this - and then jumping in the sea to cool down! It works so well in the evening as we come home, shower and jump into pjs.

I think next summer I will try to work my flexitime to take students whilst we are still at school. I could take 2 hours flexitime per day plus my lunch hour, teach the students 8.30 - 11.30 every morning and then give them free afternoons and do the excusrions in the late afternoon. The afternoon excursions are hiking, visiting the castles, swimming etc which are fine to do early afternoon and I only have to do 2 per week.

I can carry 14 hours flexitime, plus 2 hours per week flexible admin time, which would give me 18. Enough to cover this if somedays I taught at the library and didn't take a lunch. I could double my student income this way and work up my flexitime during the year when no one needs me!

Having the meals all prepped this year has been amazing.

I set myself the target of earning £5000 this summer. I've earnt £3000 from teaching online and students. I had a £1700 backdated pay award which I am counting as I didn't pend a penny of it. I have £200 of lunch club work to do in the next few weeks.

For the remaining £100 thought I'd get online work - it was cancelled - so I will chase again after my students leave. I will try and get surveys and ebay a few higher value items to make it the £100 - so close!

Also been musing about saving money in the remaining summer hols and next year. My ideas are visiting a few relatives, maybe the kids can camp in their garden to save site fees. Doing more free things in the afternoons - I have a big list of these.
