Make sure you do fit in time to focus on yourself too! Especially before the summer holidays end

Thanks wannabe. I've totally missed this as everything I have done for the last four weeks -even showering!- had involved sharing with kids and camping out in our own house or holiday home to accommodate the students or my family.
I have an unwritten rule that I do something every day to maintain myself so I look less scruffy.lets justsay that I looked very scruffy this morning!
So I've blitzed it and will get back to doing something every day now, and I'm writing it down now too!
Paint nails (normally when stationary in car before a 30 min drive to dry them)
Scrub body and Put on body oil on a Saturday
Hair mask
Face mask
De fuzz (too much info sorry) on a Friday as no lodger so can have a longer shower
Take off nail polish when chipped
Tame eyebrows
I'll be looking much more put together soon!
Had a busy morning -went to pool and then came home from hols. I've tidied up a bit but mostly enjoyed the peace as the children played for hours quietly with no interruptions- bliss and great for their imaginations!15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

So glad to hear you're getting back to a bit of self care - and even more important, some peace and quiet. Yay!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thanks Karma. Still feeling scruffy as I was just rushing around yesterday and today. It was also ds1's birthday today so not much sleep last night and up early today. He liked his presents and still has some money to spend.
Work from 7-9 (only 3 weekends left of this!) then straight to a football tourmnament for ds2 followed by another for ds1, and finally a grocery shop £50.
I've been to see mil and fil. Fil has deteriorated which I am upset aobut but I just have to accept that I can't do anything about this. I am going to take the boys to visit on a Saturday morning for 3 hours to let MIL go out. It doesn't have to be like babysitting though - I can get things done and play outside with the kids etc. I just feel sad as its such a big mental deterioration in just one week. Hopefully he'll become more positive soon.
So tomorrow we are going away for 5 days - just the four of us. Not great timing with FIL being unwell, but I think it will be good to get some perspective.
I have to accpet the things I cannot change and focus on the good things that I can do for myself, my family and friends. My father in law of 3 weeks ago would have wanted me to do this.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Just caught up with this diary and read from the start. So late to the party but congratulations on being mortgage neutral.

Have a lovely relaxing time on holiday - I'm sure you'll find out about any emergencies. I hope you take on board the reality that you really, really, really can't affect your FiL's health - thats something none of us can do for one another
Remember that your holiday is to recharge *your* batteries, as well as everyone else's :kisses3:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Echo everyone else, make sure you relax and have fun. FIL would want you to x“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”0

Jue thanks for reading the diary! Sometimes I think not very inspiring as in my earlier years I seemed more busy, but now I'm just differently busy!
Thanks everyone for comments about relaxing! I certainly did!
We had a great holiday near inverness I would totally recommend the highlands! We did lots of free fun things like fantastic open air museums, Nessie hunting and dolphin watching (from land they come right up to the shore!) and took picnics everyday and had a bbq every night. We did a couple of paid for things, the pool was £20 but had great slides, wave machines etc. We got ds1 landmark forest park tickets for his birthday and we all loved that. The caravan park we stayed at was only £65 per night and had a great play park and football area. Although the caravan decor was a bit dated it was well looked after and not scruffy. The kids made friends and we played lots of games every night, a proper relaxing family break!15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j
