My mojo seems to be making a cautious return which resulted in these pain au chocolat from a packet I bought in Mr T's as it had a cc price. They were v. easy and tasted delectable.

Then this evening I made a Use-It-Up soup with plenty of fresh ginger and a good slug of urfa chilli paste which was so nice I forgot to chuck in the falafels I'd intended to eat with it, three more portions are sitting in the fridge so I'm feeling quite ready to face Monday now.

These look good! I love pain au chocolat

So we are in November?!?! Where has the year gone. I’ve decided to give up chocolate this month. I have been eating it a lot and despite me saying I’ll cut down I haven’t. I’ve decided to give it up for the month. I’ve done it in the past with great success. I feel like I need that reset

lunch today is the leftover risotto. Dinner is leftovers from the freezer. I made a small cottage pie plus there’s Diet Coke chicken in there too. There’s enough to feed us a decent dinner. The cupboards really are bare now so shopping tomorrow

@goldfinches - hurrah for the returning mojo!!  And the pain au chocolat....all pain should be chocolatey in my opinion!    :D

@sarahj1986 - I need to do something as well but rarely eat chocolate so that's not a solution.  Maybe not finishing off a pot of sweet & sour pork standing in the kitchen an hour before supper would be a good start...

All that said - hoping for something meaty for supper - wonder if I can talk OH into doing the schnitzels in the freezer???

@sarahj1986 - thankyou for your kind words and good luck with your giving up month.

@Brie - I'm not sure I agree that all pain should be chocolatey, I'm rather hankering after having a go at this recipe
Cracked black pepper & figgy bread recipe | BBC Good Food because I love a good cheeseboard at this time of the year. The comments from others who've made it are really positive which is always a good sign.

Dinner tonight is a portion of use-it-up soup with cous cous and a green salad followed by stewed apple.

@goldfinches - I was playing with the words....pain au chocolat, you were in pain.....a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down......

Anyhoo - the figgy bread looks very nice - please let us know if and when you make it.  OH tuts at such things but would probably devour it.

fyi - I was good and had salad with my schnitzel last evening but I was bad and also ate the portion I intended to have for lunch today.  Which was great as the chef at work did wood smoked chicken breast on a quinoa, lentil, kale, brocolli salad topped with pumpkin seeds and sliced dried garlic and accompanied by the best blue cheese dressing I've had in a very long time.  Not bad for £3.95!!  Not sure if I'll manage the fish and chips OH is proposing for this evening.
