OH has just put the beef short ribs on to slow cook.  They've been marinating in left over red wine since yesterday.  Think they're due to be served up in about 3 hours with a big lump of mash.

Why we had left over red wine is a complete mystery.

Not a good night tonight, dog knocked over a can of cola, soaking the sofa. Then later on  same dog was sick and then when I was taking the spanish chicken casserole thing I had made I caught the top on the oven shelf and spilled loads onto the floor.

Lots of cleaning up but we ended up with tapas bits, with the casserole that didn't end up on the floor.

@JIL that sounds like one of those days when you just wish you’d stayed in bed 🫣

actually have some sunshine today, nearly forgot what it looks like….  Having some fillet steak from the freezer stash, bought a whole fillet for £20 a few months ago, trimmed, sliced and froze 🙌 a neighbour gave is some French beans, so will use them in a salad to go with.

Making Sunday dinner now, which I will plate up for us and inlaws. Will hopefully walk the dogs later today and ping the dinner on our return. Theres pork and chicken today, which can be used in sandwiches and salads over the next couple of days.
I will have cauliflower cheese with mine. I have started putting cream cheese in the sauce and it makes a difference to the taste which I enjoy.

After a lovely walk up Culver downs, we went to one of our favourite pubs in Bembridge for an early dinner, prawn salad for me, fish n chips for him.

If I’d thrown a pebble, I’d have hit you as I can see that pub from my (holiday) bedroom window!!

I had some of the fettucini we made at cookery class this week with a use-it-up brown lentil and mixed veg stew, YS tenderstem and green beans all topped with a poached egg and some grated parmesan. Strawberries for pud in a while when there's space.

    Hello all

    sorry I’ve not posted recently

basically where we was living formed part of my husband’s employment. The employer wasn’t employing him correctly, we’ve been trying to get away but it was proving difficult for which I won’t go into full details. Anyways beginning of May he injured himself at work. He tried to carry on but it was doing more harm than good. His employer then let him go a few weeks later. As it was part of the job, there was no written contract we were in a really dodgy area. Thankfully the council helped out. First emergency accommodation in a B&B for 2 weeks then temporary accommodation in a 2 bed flat for 4 weeks. Yesterday we moved into our permanent home although we’ve had the keys a few days.

Now because if the above our finances, budgets have been shot. My husband is working again and we are getting some uc. I’m 28 weeks pregnant so I can’t really work at the moment. We had some furniture that we bought however the previous house had built in fridge, cooker, hobs and washing machine. My dad bought us a washing machine and my sister got us a fridge freezer. Unfortunately at the moment we can’t afford the cooker straight away as there is not one here. I do have my air fryer, microwave, toaster and a slow cooker. It will do us for the next few weeks till we can afford the cooker

So this evening I defrosted some sausages I got 30% off in Lidl Friday morning (dated yesterday). I got some potatoes from M&S only £1 for a 2kg bag so reasonably priced. The veg was in a TGTG I got yesterday. I part boiled the potatoes in the microwave before adding to the sausages in the air fryer. I boiled the veg in the microwave and then did some gravy with the kettle.

I’ll try to post more regularly now we are settled as I enjoyed posting in here
Sorry to hear about your forced move etc. Try looking at OLIO, you can pick up free food (no questions asked) as it is about food waste prevention. Also try freecycle, freegle, trash nothing for all things free household goods wise. If you have a local baby bank you can also get items for baby. Your local churches or council may know if you have one. Good luck! I used a kettle, microwave and toaster to cook for a while and it's amazing how inventive you can get. There is i am sure a website of recipes without a cooker.
