I’m being a bit lazy today, so will bung something ready made in the oven tonight - an Aldi frozen salmon and prawn Wellington, which I’ll serve with a medley of green veg stir fried in butter with some garlic and green chilli.

The Wellington costs £4 so not something I would buy often, but it still works out at only £1 per portion so it’s just within budget (and it’s really very nice).  All the green veg, garlic and chilli were free from the Community Fridge.

Thanks for the recommendation - i've been eyeing those up for some time.

@Brie - I think there are two or three versions of this salmon Wellington in Aldi. I’ve only ever tried the one with salmon and prawn (which is very nice), but can’t vouch for the others!

schnitzel and new jerseys for dinner.  I'll add a lettuce tomato salad.

The problem will be when the OH goes to get the schnitzel out of the freezer.  You may hear shouting.  You see, he said, "no we have no schnitzel, we ate it last week" and so when I was in Lidl I found that they had 3 new types in one of their foreign food special things.  So checked them over and discovered 1 was pan/deep fry only (why?) but the other two were cook in the oven - which is nice and easy.  So I bought both.  And got them home to discover there was still one pack in the freezer from previously.  So we have 3 different types to choose from.

do you think I should avoid the shouting by offering to cook, retrieve which ever pack I happen to fancy and let him discover the 2 remaining ones at a later date?  Yes?  I thought you'd think that sensible.

@Brie I think I'd be tempted to ignore the pan fry only instructions...if they are the same kind of thing, and not something that obviously has to be cooked a certain way (like a fried egg) then I'd cook it however you see fit so long as it comes out hot through.
