  • thanks Stevie! this would be our 7th trip, and have always stayed on strip. with uber/lyft we wouldn't mind staying off-strip at all.

have been pricing up the Ivory Suite at Palms, which looks decent.

I've seen Palms Place, but this looks separate from the main building and a different property?

such a shame that venetian/palazzo is coming up really expensive for the final 3 nights.

Good choice if the rates are looking favourable for your dates. I think there are 3 buildings at Palms, the main building which is Ivory then a second 'Fantasy Tower' which has more suites then a third 'Palms Place' which again has suites and private properties I believe. If you are happy to uber every now and again then I would recommend. I made a stupid mistake of walking one evening in baking August heat and nearly passed out, although only a mile or so up Flamingo.

    Good luck.

Virgin sale! An Easter trip might be on after all as flights for our dates have halved in price!

Looking at a multi-stop with 4 nights in either SFO/MIA then 6 nights in LAS. Direct flights coming in at about £460pp (inc seats, bags, etc.).

Thinking about splitting our 6 nights as 2x 3 nights in different hotels to try some new places.

Has anyone stayed at the Palms? Any tips on which type of rooms to go for?

We liked it when we visited, and tempted with a stay there. Happy to to get the shuttle/Uber/Lyft to and from the strip.

Also intrigued by South Point, but looks a bit dated - has it been refurbed recently?

I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Miami before but the place is a dump. South beach is quite scary if you venture off ocean drive, I’ve had cab drivers that don’t speak English and the waiters are really aggressive about the tips
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Same as lots of major cities then ;)

Doesn't mean there aren't some great things to do and places to go.

I wouldn't fancy venturing far from Fremont or too far east of the Strip either, but doesn't stop me from enjoying Vegas :)

This might turn into a week in Vegas only after pricing it all up... the 10day multitrip was coming in about £1500pp, but a week in the Venetian/Palazzo with direct flights is coming in at £1000pp (inc resort fees).

That is a very good price for Venetian/Palazzo with fees plus at Easter. You can do Miami or San Fran another time :). T.b.h. the accommodation prices in San Fran are high any time of year, even for a budget hotel you may be up to £100 a night, love the city though.

I think that's the way we're thinking now... with baggage+seats on direct flights with Virgin, 7 nights at Palazzo/Venetian is £875pp (without resort fee). that seems a cracking offer to me...

No I mean REALLY AGGRESSIVE. Old story. In Miami they add 18% service charge to the bill (which they aren't supposed to do). If your bill is $48.10 including the tip and you give them $49 you wont see the change.
We had a really bad pizza at the Colony, bill was around $49.34 inc tip. As the tip was already in I left them $49
2 blocks up the street we are chased by the waiter that says I did him out of 34 cents and he will have to pay that out of his own money.
Lets say he picked the worst 2 people in the world to start that one with, we are a team, kinda like a couple of pit bulls. :D

  • We caved and booked a week in late April 2019 :D

Very excited, will be our 7th trip and first since April 2017.

Do any decent rewards come up on MyVegas any more? Have got about 750k LP but rewards look awful at the moment.

Glad you have booked you can sit back and look forward now.

Having just returned last week we made good use of MyVegas rewards, I suppose it depends what you are after. Both my Wife and I have a Myvegas account so between us we got 2 x 2 nights at Bellagio at 250k per reward, that could make a significant saving on your accommodation and still staying at a quality hotel. Also 2 x bogof Bellagio buffet; free entree at Nine Fine Irishmen and 2 tickets for the Tournament of Kings.

I think we saved over £500 with those rewards. The TOK show was a little cheesy but still a nights entertainment. We have enough points for a future trip and hope that the Bellagio offer is still on. We have stayed in other MLife properties inc Aria, Vdara, Delano and Mirage and Bellagio was definitely worth it.

We also particularly likes the Nine Fine Irishmen especially during Happy hour. The food was excellent. We had two rewards for NFI but didn't have chance to return. I used to like dinner buffets but don't think we get value any more especially as we don't eat sea food. Breakfast buffet aren't too bad though.

So for your 750 LP's you should get decent rewards with points to spare.
