Thank you all. Does anyone know if dollar let you choose your vehicle at LAS also? They are the cheapest full size provided I have found.0

Last rental with Dollar about 18 months ago, I got paperwork at the counter and then chose my vehicle in the garage.0

We have stopped using dollar as many of their cars are much older than alamos.
Last couple of years we have one brand new car with Alamo and the other with a couple of thousand miles on0 -
I have booked a full size with Avis which is described as "Chevrolet Impala or similar" and is the category FCAR. If I got an Altima from that, I'd be very upset!0

I think the Altima is a full size so quite possible
ps whats wrong with the Altima, I have never had one but they look ok and even the basic one is 179hp0 -
The problem with some of the North American rental firms is that over the years they have re categorised cars I.e what used to be a compact is now classed as a mid, same with mid to full and now as we see Full to prestige as in the case of the Impala.
Sometimes I just order a compact and wait and see what upgrade offers are available. If there are no compacts available they usually upgrade for free anyway.0 -

Thanks photome. There is nothing wrong with the Altima in and of itself. It's just that its all I seem to get, every time I hire a car. I go a few times a year so it's getting a bit same-y. Last time I got a Maxima by chance and the power difference was immense.
I'd just love something different and don't want to get to the lot just to see another line of Altimas! It seems to be the stock full size car of car hire firms.0 -

Stupid question, but how would I go about the $20 trick at the lot. I've already gone through the counter and am now with the guy that shows you which aisle to go to. What do I say and how do I indicate the $20?0
