Paid £400 ish last year.
There is flights for £400 in feb and March, but looking to go at end of May to take advantage of comped room at Caesers Palace0 -
end of May is when I go.....
As u know, I been doing the DUB route for past 3 years, as the cost of flights suck !!!! (direct and in-direct)
ranging anywhere from £680 - £9500 -
Having a slight dilemma. We go 31st August, so arriving on the Friday evening of the Labor day weekend.
So far we have booked:-
Tuscany (Fri 31st to Wed 5th Sept) - non cancellable (booked with flights).
Planet Hollywood (Wed 5th-Sun 9th) at $32 per night. It's on 2 separate bookings, so it's Wed,Thur and Fri,Sat if I wanted to cancel one part, keep one part etc.
Platinum - Sun 9th - Fri 14th. Cancellable, but I'm happy with this.
Now, it's the mid section I'm not quite happy with. It's a great rate, but it's not grabbing me. Having been 18 times, we've done quite a lot, including Green Valley, Westin Lake Las Vegas, and I quite like those few nights off the Strip. I really like downtown Summerlin, like the ambience and Red Rock resort, and wouldn't mind staying there. Could get it on Priceline or Hotwire for say £80 per night. I could actually get the Venetian cheaper but have done that.
Planet Hollywood, I don't mind. Very central, we like to go in Paris, across to Bellagio etc so the area suits. I think parking is still free (we will have a car for a week). We've stayed there a few times and I don't dislike it at all. And it's cheap.
So, do we take the opportunity to do Red Rock - if so, do we keep the PH weekend nights, or keep the weeknights? I find the strip heaving at weekends, pool may be uncomfortably busy too etc on strip. But $32 is a bargain for the weekend nights!! I think Red Rock would be too boring for 4 nights. I could extend Platinum and do 3 nights Red Rock, and go into Platinum a day early?
What would you do?0 -
I suppose it depends whether you value price over a relaxing location. With your experience of the LV a few night off strip is a good way of splitting up the trip and getting away from the crowds.
Not done Red Rock but hear good things and is a resort I would like to try out. Stayed at Westin Lake LV a few times but since they have restricted the strip shuttle it is a little way out if we want to go into the strip and enjoy a few drinks.
Although I agree PH is a great rate and location, the hotel didn't do it for me unfortunately.
My opinion is go with your proposed plan Red Rock for 3 and extend Platinum.
Funny I am in a similar predicament for my next trip. First night (Sat) in a cheap hotel off strip inc airport shuttle as we arrive late on so price was the deciding factor. Sun-Thur either looking at comp nights at Luxor or Excal or MyVegas 2x2 comp nights at Mirage. Then finally Thur-Mon Delano booked average $90 a night plus RF with $240 resort credit. I want to keep the first and last booking but it is the middle part I am pondering.0 -

Have spent some time at Red Rock and really like it but never stayed. Loved Green Valley Ranch and expecting same standards. I agree, although Planet Hollywood is fine, it's more a bargain than what I really want to do.
For your dilemma Luxor/Excalibur or Mirage, I'd choose Mirage. My second choice would be Luxor, but you'll be at that end of the strip at Delano. See, easy to solve someone else's problems. :rotfl:0 -

Haha thanks for that. I tend to agree with as we like the Mirage, just thought about the cost savings. As for Delano we have stayed there before and although the location is a slight negative we really enjoyed the resort plus the rooms are excellent. We also enjoyed the champagne happy hour in the evening
Sounds like you have made your mind up then.0 -
Vegasvisitor, I actually prefer Red Rock to GVR. I!!!8217;d go with that and an extra night at Platinum.
Stevie11, I'd go with Mirage out of your choices too. A different part of the strip from Delano, and I think it!!!8217;s a much nicer property (and pool area) the Luxor or Excalibur.0 -

Pebbles, thanks for that, again I agree with you. Mirage is a good central ish hotel with good facilities, probably my favourite mid range hotel. Now looking at MyVegas although not for my dates Ballagio is on offer for 250k coins. If that is available nearer to my dates I would probably go for that over mirage.0 -

Hi all,
Hoping that all of you "old timers" to Vegas can help me out please.
Hubby and I are going to LV at the end of October for a week to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary, the last time we went abroad was to LV to get married, so this is a special trip for us. Even though we don't have masses of cash, we still want to try and get the best out of it.
I posted a question about luggage allowances on the main travel forum before I found this thread, I don't want to double post, so here's a link if anyone can help with that. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/74569904#Comment_74569904
We're looking at visiting for a week, before going to Vancouver for a couple of days as one of hubby's relatives founded it years ago; it's unlikely we'll be able to afford to go there any other time, so we're making the hop whilst we're in the area.
So to the questions (so many questions!)
We're looking at staying at the Wynn, where we had our wedding breakfast. A while ago we had an offer from them for 1/2 price rooms, comp buffet and resort comp. We missed that offer, but does anyone know if that is likely to come up again or if that was a one off?
Does the Bellagio do anything simiar?
I read in the excellent first few posts in this thread about the $20 tip, has anyone tried it and were you successful? I'm not very good at bartering, and don't want to look a fool!
We did the Blue Man Group when they came to the UK last year, does anyone know if it's the same show, or much different in LV?
We won't have a car, but are there any places that are a must to see, that are worth getting an Uber/Lyft to see? We saw the Grand Canyon last time we were there, anything else that everyone raves about?
I know this is the LV thread, but does anyone have an tips on the Vancouver part of the trip? Particularly the transfer from LV, hotels etc, and what to see? We're only there a couple of nights and from what I can see it's quite expensive so any ways we can reduce cost would be helpful to know.
Thanks for any ideas/help, and sorry for all the questions!
