Pollycat! Sweet of you but with four trained chaps I have all the eyes out for a nice bit of Denby I can afford (and let us not mention the storage!)

I Walked Away from a Manor Green teapot today as they wanted a fiver for it & I simply could not justify that much on a lovely piece I (probably) already have (at least) one of. (When we've cleared the eBay heap I Must do an audit.) Besides which, it had a distinctly recent basestamp & I was feeling frugal.

However, bless you for thinking of me! The other downside of Denby - it's a fiend to post...

Nice SS cocktail shaker in a local CS for £1.50 - been hoping to find one for ages ;) I practiced my espresso Martini ( Martini glass from a CS!) But didn't have enough ice or shake it long enough - need to have another go after I've drunk this one. ......hic!

I found a Phase 8 top and an Eastex top today. Both BNWOT £6.50 for both. Really pleased.

We've just got back from an unexpected walk round the charity shops in the local market town and prices seem to have gone up. Despite visiting 5 cs we bought nothing. Then on the way home we stopped to go to poundstretcher on the shopping park and went into the Sue Ryder virtually next door. Here we got a lovely little Minton haddon ha Bon Bon dish for £2 and dh got a silk tie for £1.

Earlier in the week a visit to the £1 cs yielded another suit for work for dh. It was a Debenhams make and retails for approx £160. I know the frequent purchasing of suits and ties must seem excessive but as he wears a suit everyday for work and works in some fairly upmarket places a range of suits is helpful.

Husband has rolled in beaming like a recently fed Cheshire cat - two pairs of outdoors shoes (Brasher & someone else) in his awkward size, barely worn for a tenner. (The Brasher pair alone still selling at £99)
So he's set about him with the suede cleaner & the boot wax and generally got both pairs to thoroughly acceptable in public, and is looking forward to a summer strolling in shorts & not the ankle high combats he's been favouring in the dodgy weather...

Son meantime got up early, puttered off & phoned home asking for a lift as he'd got a job at a recently opened garden centre, starting as soon as he'd changed clothes & got a packed lunch. Somehow I don't think I'll have the helper in the garden I was idly planning for this Bank Holiday Weekend! Still, he's contemplating wads of treasury notes as I remind him to scrub now & find sunscreen for tomorrow...

I'm quite looking forward to next weekend. I am going on a 'research' trip to Norwich to visit my new uni and to have a look around the town. I have heard good things about the Norwich charity shops and I'm excited to check them out. The one thing I miss about Guildford are the charity shops (though definitely not the prices :p).

    I think I have a problem :rotfl:

I picked up some things yesterday whilst in our favourite little town:

George cornflower blue ankle grazers, they have a white diamond design and zips to the ankle - £4

River Island black slim fit jeans for DH - £5
Adidas black & grey trainers for DH - £5
F&F sleeveless chambray blouse, longer length at the back - £1
Crane running top in turqouise £1
Oasis sleevless long top, floral front and cotton back £1
BNWT George lightweight grey jumper, long length with unusual neckline and a very on trend knotted front - £1.

Has anyone else noticed that the CS are cutting out the labels? They are removing the brand label plus the size and care labels, they are then writing the size on their own ticket. For me this is no good as I can't trust what they have written and would have to try everything on. What would be the point of doing it?

No idea but I'd tell the staff it means visiting them is a lot less worthwhile as the information you trust & the care requirements is thus removed. The penny will either drop or you take your business elsewhere.
(I need to know if something's 100% wool & I can't always apply the burn test. If it's doubtful, it's abandoned, as wool does not burn willingly whereas blends can go up like fireworks. So I'm a *very* picky mortal about labels.)

I can't say I've seen this in my locality but we all know different makes have different sizing - one manufacturers 12 can be a 10 or a 14! - Wallis used to be very generous in their sizing - and I always look at the care label too if I'm not sure of the fabric content.
I did buy a Joseph Ribkoff dress and trousers once that had the labels cut out but I think it was because they had been donated by a local shop that was closing down - but they left the hanger ribbons on with the designer name on........ one of my better bargains!

I have to own up to cutting out neck labels as they irritate my skin, and once washed first time care labels come off too if they affect the lie of a garment.
