There are lots of CSs in town in Harrogate but there are also 2 on Leeds road, Barnados and St Leonard’s hospice shop.4

Only two charity shops were open in town on Friday , the dog rescue one had all clothes £1 but very little and although I had a good rummage, all I came out with was a book and some crochet patterns. None of the big names were open and one of our large charities shop had closed down completely5

I know at least one, if not three of the CS in my town should be open tomorrow. Can't image I can take both kids with me though so I'd still be stuck at home unless DH finishes work early enough in the afternoon to allow me to go out child free.
Thankfully the bulk of the out grown kids stuff I accumulate goes to a couple of specific people, one with a boy the same age as DD gets DS's old bits and one of my best friend's sisters has an seven month old girl who's getting DD's things once she finally grows out of them. She was two in April and has only just fully moved into her 18-24months items, that I bought for Autumn/Winter 2019!!
After planning for going back to work this year I was expecting to reduce my casual clothing that I've lived in whilst being at home with the kids, but it's now looking possible that retaining MiL's London rental properties after selling her actual house could mean we'd be mortgage free and both DH and I only working part-time. So, half/half casual and work attire? Who knows, all remains to be seen still. Third probabte application in two and a half years. Shouldn't have lost three parents between us before either of us even turns 40. Sorry, having a bit of a rant.
A good CS rummage was one of my coping mechaninsims when my feelings are off kilter. Always was, good way to be able to spend less for more impact etc. I miss my CS and TK Maxx visits!!Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Jan 2012: £16,000+ [STRIKE] Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Sep 2013: £13,023 [/STRIKE]

I went into town this afternoon, just our small local town and boy was it depressing, half the shops haven't even bothered opening yet, only 2 of the 9 charity shops were open, shops had signs in the windows saying how many customers at one time but you couldn't tell from outside how many people were in there, signs saying not to touch anything or minimise touching. All in all a very unpleasant environment, I felt like I was waiting to be yelled at all the time. I assume retailers think people want this sort of response but I for one don't want to shop in that type of hostile environment although I do want to support local retailers.Anyway I bought this for £2. https://www.wayfair.co.uk/home-decor/pdx/east-urban-home-evensong-framed-painting-print-on-canvas-artg6190.html , it is now up in my hallway and looks very pretty. The lady in the shop was doing her best to make it a friendly atmosphere and all credit to her.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Thanks for your thoughts on shopping Dolly84 it is unfortunate that to be safe we are being directed. Wearing masks doesn't help as we can't even smile at people or be smiled at! I agree with you and am hoping that people will all make an effort to be nice to each other. I've heard a few stories of shoppers being shouted at by assistants, they need to remember that they need our custom.
That's a lovely picture I hope that you get a lot of enjoyment from it. I'm so pleased that I bought a canvas just before lockdown with a coastal view of cottages and a field full of summer wildflowers. It's been like looking out of a window for me and I love it!
A family member is going back to work 'behind the scenes' in a local charity so preparation is being done for reopening. On your marks, get set, ladies! (and gents)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

This sounded familiar. I have it in my collection, but can't remember buying it. The pages are very yellow so almost certainly came from a 2nd hand bookshop or charity shop.I've not been out much for 3 months.I'm not rushing out either, I used to do the rounds of Aldi, Fultons, Iceland, Tesco and the half dozen charity shops on a regular basis but I'll wait until they reduce the social distancing rules.I've not been to the big town for exactly 13 weeks. I've not been on a bus for 13 weeks. That was the day they closed pubs.We should be in Greece right now and we've just cancelled our late August holiday to Greece.I have a 4 wheel walker and a 3 wheel walker in the garage that used to belong to Mum before she went into a care home. Plan was her care home would take them as spares for residents but I'm not sure they'll want them now. If not, I'll offer them to charity shops and as a last resort I guess they'll go in the skip we're having soon.8
