More Charity Shop Bargains for 2018 & beyond!

Hi lovely Charity shop bargain hunters. As you buy no doubt you also give. I work in a CS opening soon but want to give some tips to help your donations make a difference. I hope this helps you.
I posted this in the Banish the Clutter thread, my spiritual home.
1. Clothing - if possible take only seasonal stuff, everything else will go to the ragman as they usually have no storage.
2. Only to take one or two bags at a time as they will be getting overwhelmed so may refuse more.
3. Don't be upset if donations are declined. They want it just don't have the storage. Spread the love between shops if you can. I work in one of the 7 local ones and get aggro sometimes when the 2 bag rule is in place. This is normal times.
I know it is hard for some people to hang on to their stuff, e.g. winter clothing they have cleared out. To be honest it is only a 3 or 4 more months before they will be accepting it.
5. Christmas stuff will definitely be chucked in the bin.
Follow these tips and it will be easier for the shops to take your donation and actually make some money out of it.
PS if you pay tax please giftaid it.

^^ That is interesting info, thanks. I usually split my donation bags between shops if I have a lot to donate. I do have quite a bit built up in my house now after lockdown.2025 GOALS

One of the small pleasures I have really missed during the lockdown is my impromptu chazzer trips.
If any more incentive to eschew fast fashion and buy from a chaz is needed
Not that I would every spend the equivalent of £26 on a T-shirt!! But still shocking that all of 16p goes to the person making the garment in a sweatshop on the other side of the world. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Rosa - not to mention the cost to the environment, cotton takes huge amounts of pesticides and water to grow. That whole picture is even worse when you consider some stores sell cotton t shirts for less than a fiver, if you only pay that for it you won't treasure it and treat it well.

Well I don't know why Im smiling about all shops, other than its a step further towards normality. Im going to see if mum wants to go down to the one she volunteered in for a little while for a natter whilst I browse. She's not been out of the house since the beginning of March6 -
Meanwhile, The Scottish SPCA is appealing to for urgent donations of new blankets and towels for animals at its Aberdeenshire rescue and rehoming centre.
The charity has been unable to accept used or hand-knitted items due to contamination risks linked to coronavirus.
“We would ask that only brand new items are donated due to potential risk of contamination from used items."

I live in North Yorkshire near Selby but I babysit in Castleford and Harrogate on a weekly basis. Whilst I have found bargains in all locations, Harrogate is a cut above. Every charity shop is there and you are spoilt for choice. However, Martin’s mantra still applies: do I need it and will I use it? I would add: is it beautiful? will I treasure it? will my grandchildren enjoy playing with it? do I want to read it or listen to it? does it enhance my life in any way?4
