  • Dreadful news. Thanks for letting us know though. My deepest condolences to DforV.
    Normal people worry me.
  • Not intending to be disrespectful but I have a find to report. It is a butter dish. A Denby “greenwheat” I think and it felt very fitting so I bought it. Of course it made me think of the DFV family and it felt like a little tribute (maybe not but it did to me)

I thought of DfV whilst charity shopping yesterday - though it was all Royal Worcester!

    My finds for yesterday-

Rocha John Rocha Jeans - as new, £6

Mistral top I had wanted for AGES. It’s still being sold by Mistral (for £45) and I’d been outbid on EBay twice. £5! Very pleased.

White Stuff “perfect shirt”, white with Tudor rose pattern - £5.50.

Sending condolences to DforV, family and friends.

And something to a relevant national organisation in lieu of a CS donation.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

My find for the day....a box of 2 M & S crystal gin & tonic glasses, (the trendy new large bulbous shaped ones), from Oxfam and priced at £3.50. Price in M & S £7.50 so not a huge saving but I got a set of 6 for a friend as a Chrimbo present and then thought I quite fancied some myself. Will raise a glass to DFV and family this evening and will make a donation to an epilepsy charity too.
  • They've been seen in the wild ...

B&H crackers £1.75 in Marie Curie.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

DfV and family may set up a Just Giving page and then the money will go exactly where they would like it to go. If anyone hears any news please post.
    Slightly bitter

We're nowhere near that organised yet, but thank you for all your support. If you take one extra thing to a cs or donate to a foodbank (he never needed one but unemployment amongst epileptics is high), I'd take that very kindly.

A surviving son & I went down to Oxford yesterday to tell my parents. Who took it wonderfully, and were very touched I'd come in person. There isn't currently a war on, (although I've not been keeping up with current events), so a War Office Telegram wasn't quite an option.

The charity bookshelves on platform 4 of Oxford station produced another Elizabeth George novel (I am about 4 behind? But somehow they're easier to follow on paper) & a chunk of SF escapism. Which my son then trumped - he'd packed a laptop, two sets of headphones, relevant gizmos & I had a choice of films to watch. So we watched Aliens, & watching a strong woman laying about her with a grenade launcher, flame thrower & pulse rifle was remarkably supportive.
