Yep, same with the B & H gifty sets at the Tesco I called into on Friday. Did manage to pick up loads of Chrimbo food reduced to just pennies tho
My bimble around the charity shops of North Yorkshire found me a few nice items. A bottle green, checked, A-line. calf length skirt from Thirsk- £4.99. Just what I wanted to go with a, recently acquired, bottle green coat. BNWT and looks like one of those mock Italian designer labels but I'm pleased with it. In Ripon's, Age Concern, I found a B/N, tan coloured, leather belt for £1.99. Then in Northallerton I spotted another pair of Boden fine woollen navy trousers, B/N and £5.99 - price on swing ticket £110. (What is it with some brands - they seem rather like buses - two items come along one after the other and then you don't see anything for months??) Anyhoo, I need some styling advice please - these trousers are 'paper bag style' I think it's called, (extra pleated fabric sticks up from top of waistband) and I know we have a couple of peeps on the thread who are fans of this style but it is my first pair and I am wondering what sort of top one wears with them?? Fitted shirt/ ribbed sweater to tuck in perhaps?? Helppppp0 -
miro - I have a few pairs of trousers in that style, I always wear something quite slim fitting on top and always tucked in, a thin knit jumper, long sleeved t shirt or fitted shirt would be good.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Thanks dolly84.....that was my thinking exactly!!!! Will probably go for a slim fit silk shirt* with perhaps a cashmere sweater* nonchalantly slung around the shoulders for warmth and a pair of high heeled boots* as they are quite wide-legged and could look a little dumpy with flats....thanks for the help
*all chazza buys of course:D
Had a little sashay around my local haunts today and came home with a pair of B/N, M & S, tan leather gloves - current stock too and M & S price £17.50 - Martin House Hospice price £2.990 -

Happy New Year, everyone!
I began the charity shopping year with a difficult day. Well, more that there were difficult decisions to be made!
I went to the posh market town near me. Not much stock (I expect January clear-out stuff will arrive later in the month) but a few bargains and a few things that got away.
In Oxfam I spied a Tara Jarmon suit. Brown wool pinstripe. Jacket reduced to £4 and the trousers £7. Absolutely beautiful, and if you Google her you will see how £££ her clothes are. It was a 12, however, and just too small. For a while I considered buying just the jacket but that was a bit tight across the shoulders and I thought it was morally wrong to split up the trousers and jacket! I really should know by now that I am just too curvy for high-end designer stuff. A 12 in something like this just will not fit my bottom half. Sob.
Then in Scope a pair of Brown 'artisan' Clarks boots. Brand new, really stylish, in my size. The RRP was £110 and they wanted £30 for them. I tried them on. I came SO close to buying them and I can't stop thinking about them. BUT they were a tiny bit too big (my heels were moving about a bit more than I would like) and I have so many pairs of boots already. Sigh. It was a really tough decision! Argh.
I did buy this dress for a fiver. BNWT: https://www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/neon-rose-floral-printed-midi-dress/yq769/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=2091 Not a particularly high-end brand or material, but I thought it would be nice for work and is midi length.
Then in the Ecco shop I found a BNWT cream jumper for £4. It is deliciously soft and I couldn't resist it. It's called 'Cashmiele' and I was surprised to find it is by Avon. It's this one (apologies for the FB link but someone on there is selling it!). https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=2748679098484853&id=167244503295005&comment_id=2748686561817440&reply_comment_id=2748729851813111
I want to wear more cream next to my face as I am getting older :rotfl: so let's see if this takes ten years off me...
A pair of Van Dal shoes for £4.95. These are quite smart heels with a nice art deco design on them. Van dal are v. good quality and these have had new heels put on them so should get some wear out of them. They are leather.
A pair of Next tailored shorts, black and cream stripes. They are designed to be worn with tights under them and boots, I should think. I bought these on a whim as they were £2 and I think would look nice in the spring, although perhaps I am going too far and they are too young for me. We'll see!
Happy hunting in 2020! M1000 -
Wishing everyone a happy and bargainacious New Year!
First trip of the year to Otley this afty and I thought I was going to be coming home empty handed but a last drop into the 20p shop came up trumps with 3 perfect, Ikea, plain white, mugs from the '365 Susan Pyke' range. Been looking for some replacements for ages but it's such a pain to go to Ikea I was pleased to pay 20p each for these when they are £1.75 in Ikea, (if they still sell them). This range is my everyday china.....I tend to keep the Denby for 'best' which means it hardly ever gets used...stupid I know!!0 -
I know she's a regular poster on here and just thought I'd pass on the sad news in case it's not filtered through:DigForVictory wrote: »Warning, a not-pleasure.
