Traipsed around all twelve of my local charity shops today and found nothing so hopped on the bus into town to have a squiz in the BHF shop and St Gemma's. Perseverance pays off!! Spotted a pair of beige chinos on the 99p rail, thought 'these seem good quality' and then saw the Pure Collection label and remembered I have had a few things of their's lately and I vaguely remembered their prices for ladies trousers were around the £100 mark. Sadly they were a size bigger than I normally get but didn't look humungous so I tried 'em on. They will be fine for everyday.....found then on FleaBay, (RRP £99) :)

P.S. I had to walk out of Oxfam today as they were playing 'music' with the most offensive lyrics and language...I hate hearing it at anytime but don't see why I should have to put up with it whilst shopping!!! :(

Chanced upon a Frozen version of the game Don't break the ice, for DD, for £1. We were actually there dropping stuff off, but she likes to look at the toys. Happily parted ways with a £1 for that game. DD very happy :)

Blackburn Barnados had a few bits of Denby sandalwood (lovely curve on the teacups) and as I was cuddling then in newspaper, Himself spotted a pair of Brasher boots. They need a bit of tlc (but we had been shopping for insoles anyway) & so now three of us have new-to-us boots!

Ooooh I bought my Brasher boots about 10 years ago to do 'The Dalesway' walk from Ilkley to Windermere, (all 90+ miles of it). Fab boots, rained all the way but the Goretex lining kept my feet dry. Not worn them in ages.....must get them out and give them a polish :)

If there's still life in the tread, get the laces out, wash any dust off & apply the aqueous Nikwax to the leather, let the boots dry and get the laces back in.

Then wear them like slippers for a couple of days to remind your feet what boots feel like & the boots what your feet feel like & you are sorted for footwear in bad weather. A little maintenance goes a long way! The short wearing-in also spells out if you really can't put yourself & your feet through this & that it may be time for new boots.

Forgive me if I'm teaching grandma to suck eggs!

Says she with a meindl pair I use as slippers. Almost literally - there's barely any grip left so hurtling up & down stairs is chancy but dear gods they are still So comfortable. (The 'laces' are a couple of lengths of Christmas ribbon to remind me not to wear them outside.)

I have made some purchases in the last week:

Thomas Pink ladies cotton shirt, pink, straight non fitted style, it does need cufflinks so I will be on the look out or will wear sleeves rolled up - sale rail at £1.80 which was 20p less than the ice creams I got for my kids that afternoon.

George chiffon shirt in blue with trailing floral pattern and birds, it is a size 18 but not too oversized, I have worn it once for work tucked into a skirt and then with navy leggings yesterday - £3.

Lands End cropped linen trousers in grey £1
H&M Grey jumper, round neck, fluffy knit and with sleeves that are straight to just above the elbow then a bell sleeve - £3

Fat Face red sweat top, with my favourite 1/4 zip neck, ribbing that runs from the cuff to the hem under the arms, beautiful soft cotton £3.

Levis ladies black t shirt with the batwing logo - wanted one of these for ages, it was £4.50 which was a lot but it's the first one I've ever seen.

Tu plain black round neck short sleeved t shirt £1.50, I only have one plain black t shirt and am always saving it rather than wearing it.

BNWT Zara 3/4 trousers, lightweight fabric in black with white polka dots and paper bag waist £1.99

Tommy Hilfiger fairisle jumper, 100% wool £4.50 - this is for DD.

Sweaty Betty green jumper, knitted sleeves with drop shoulder, then a mesh type body but close mesh, the back is attached at the top then split £5, similar on the website are £65 ish if I remember correctly and this looks as new.

BNWT Under Armour white shirt with grey logo, keeps you cool according to the tag £3.

Pollycat - I've had numerous Peter Storm packaway jackets for the kids and have one for myself and they are pretty good, it might just need re-proofing if you have some of the Nik-Wax stuff.
Thanks, yes, I have some Nik-Wax.
