Went for a lovely walk in the spring sunshine this afty. Was "sakura'd" by falling blossom when walking under a large cherry tree then greeted by my favourite neighbourhood cat who stopped for a 'chat' and chin skritch. Then got chased by a humungous bee, the size of a chinook helicopter. Nevertheless I managed to call into a couple of chazza's on the way
My 'hurrah du jour' to pinch a wonderful phrase from DFV was a bottle green, leather, cross body bag by Jane Shilton. Looks new and has the swing ticket tucked into the inside pocket saying genuine leather and the original price £39.99. From the hospice shop, £3 and a perfect match to go with the kimono style top I got last week. Also from the same place I got a Phase Eight jersey sleeveless summer dress, with a drapey bit round the waist, abstract pattern in shades of pink, lilac and plum, also £3. Have all the necessary bits to go with it, (bag/shoes/wrap), so very pleased with this buy also.0 -
I just had to share my happy finds yesterday.
A BNWT pair of Seasalt pyjamas (£3.50) and 2 metres of Laura Ashley fabric & bits of other pretty fabric for £2 :j.
I've set myself the goal of trying to learn to sew this year on a lovely Pfaff machine bought (obviously!!) from a charity shop for £10. There are very few fabric shops near me and any I find seem to be very expensive so I was chuffed to bits with my finds yesterday. However, I am buying jeans when I find them reduced to £1 and using them to make reversible bags lined with pretty fabric.0 -
I hadn't thought of Oxford Railway station as a charity shop but the bookcase on platform 4 is a fundraiser location & I hopped my train clutching the two Pony Club classics of my day Training the Young pony & the Manual of Horsemanship.
A pound for a fast ticket back decades!0 -
3 nice tops at £1 each in the CS sale, a 'spotters Guide to flowers, trees and birds' for one of the Grandpickles and a reading at bedtime book for one of the others and a kiddies tambourine for my coming granddaughter, her mummy will say I'm a good Oma? perhaps not xxx.0

I could think of umpteen things my sister would have said if I'd bought my niece or nephew a tambourine (or other similar musical 'instrument') but "a good Auntie" would not be one of them. :rotfl:
Maybe Karma will come back to get you and Mummy will opt to leave the tambourine at your house.0 -
Oh no she won't I'm more devious with hiding things in bags than she'll EVER be! Besides which I can sneak it back into her house when she's at work if I have to!
Actually she's a very good pianist, plays clarinet, the whole range of recorders and the French horn as well as singing with the choral society, the school jazz choir and plays in the swing band so I think she'll see it how I intended it to be and that's a way for the small one to be able to join in with jingling when mummy is practising for a performance, I think it will not incur too much displeasure.....I hope anyway xxx.0 -

In that case, I'm sure it will be a very welcome gift.
Is your DIL Brazilian or am I thinking of a different poster?0 -
this week picked myself up a very pretty Yankee Candle globe if that is the right word to use. Its very big and I am sure it cost quite a few pennies when bought. Its like new. Very pleased with that may regift it or sell it on the bay of e and buy some little plants for my garden pots.0

Went to Nettlebed this morning - the wind and rain must have put everyone else off because it was really quiet there. It was nice not to have to fight through the crowds! I bought an odd mixture of bits and bobs, and there were no jaw-dropping bargains today but they were all things I needed/wanted so am super pleased with my little haul:
A small cream upholstered footstool, £2
A set of 8 velcro-on dining chair seat cushions in the exact shade of Parma violet/grey I’ve been looking for, £4
A table top size electric dehumidifier, £3
A desk top size electric personal space cooler, £3
An A4 sized box of embroidery threads, wound onto cards and colour coded, £3
Hairy Bikers diet book, Far Eastern Adventure book and Great Curry book (been after the latter for ages), £1 each
A set of three chrome baskets which slide onto the underside of a kitchen cabinet shelf, a full door height chrome spice rack which hangs on the inside of a kitchen wall cabinet, and two over-door chrome coat hook racks, £5 the lot.0
