I think there's much joy to be had when you get a treat that you really really couldn't have afforded/justified new, rather than just picking up something ordinary a bit cheaper than new.
    Absolutely.
I love all my charity shop bargains but nothing beats that "OMG! I've just bought something that costs hundreds of £s for peanuts". :)

DFV - well done to your DH on those socks.

I have had a little wander around our favourite boho type town and bought a Wallis drapy mock wrap top in claret colour, silky material with long sleeves and gathered cuffs - £1, a M&S Collection blue, white and red striped shirt, oversized and long - £2 and a BNWT H&M Divided high waisted skirt with double buttons all the way down and pockets, this was a size 16 but I'm a 12 and thought it looked much smaller and I was right which is why it had been donated unworn.

Does the hooded bathtowel have ears? There is something unspeakably cute about the little ears. No #2 son's outdoor garb had ears & he got more croons per half hour than equally gruesome/charming but un-eared siblings.

Mind, Young Blue Eyes cut a most disconcerting swathe through a certain vintage of female demographic. Nothing the mummy manuals warned you about!

Easter Monday car booty in Thirsk this afty was heaving! Found a sweet little crystal trinket thingumidoo which splits into two halves to make two little dishes. Perfect to safely store my jewellery temporarily when doing mucky jobs. £1.50 for the crystal and a nice chat with the seller. The 'Gentleman Caller' was over the moon with his man purchase of a rusty old soldering torch thingy, price beaten down from £7 to £3. (Puts fire brigade on speed dial). Also spotted a good replica Chanel bag which I would have loved to have had a good squiz at and priced it but could not get near it!
  • Sadly not D for V no ears but blue stripes!

I have hopes of many more bargains in the coming c of weeks as the charity shop I volunteer in now is going to have a sale to clear some of the stock that has built up of late, I'll share what I get!

  • Well todays bargain was in the YMCA shop and they are selling 10 x kids books or DVDs for £1 and I managed to find a series of the most beautifully illustrated little books about a lop eared rabbit and his friends published in the 1980s in America, 9 of them and a copy of The Snowman book by Raymond Briggs which DD1 is very happy with. I thought if she didn't want them as books the illustrations would make amazing nursery pictures if they were framed but she liked the stories too!

Am in very high spirits over my recent purchases. A dark wash pair of Next Lift, Slim and shape skinny jeans £3.99, a H&M thin knit black poloneck with superbly long sleeves £3, a George smock style top with a tie at the back in shades of gold £1.80. I saved the best for last though, a pair of barely worn Russell & Bromley leather tasselled loafers, leather sole, leather lined, fringe under the tassels, block heel, £3.99.

The jeans will be well loved by me and the poloneck is a wardrobe basic and I was happy to pay £3 mainly because H&M do such long sleeves.
