Just back from a very pleasant tripette to Otley in glorious sunshine. :)

Picked up a couple of nice bargains in the 99p St Gemma's shop. Firstly a b/n cotton dress by 'Traveliing Light' in a ditsy flowery print in turquoise and lilac. 50''s stylee, button thro with a fitted top with a scoopy neck and short sleeves and with a calf length skater style skirt.....AND IT HAS POCKETS :j:j:j Tried it on in the shop cos I thought it might be on the small side and it did feel a bit snug....then I realised I had a padded bra on which plumped up the bazooms area somewhat. Tried it on again at home with a soft bra and it's a perfect fit!

Also got another(!) t-shirt, M&S peach colour with my fave elbow length sleeves and a slightly longer fit.

I have to make a trip to trinity in Leeds on Saturday but would be much happier trawling a few nice cs than I will be visiting the high end shops lol. So I would be really grateful if you lovely peeps can suggest an area within 20 minutes or so of Leeds that has some great cs shops at good prices. Many thanks x

Hiya, I would suggest Headingley...10 mins by car or bus or a 25 min walk. It has Mind, Martin House Hospice, Brain Tumour Research chazza with cafe, Oxfam, Oxfam Books, Sue Ryder Vintage, BHF. Meanwood is a further 5 mins away with a fab Community chazza and bookshop, Barnado's and a big Sue Ryder chazza. On the way to Meanwood is a charity shop within the grounds of Wheatfields Hospice. Hope this helps - yell if you need more info:)

This is wonderful news - I am going to the village next to Headingley on Thursday, so if I go an hour or two early I will have plenty of time to look round somewhere new and unknown. Can't wait!

Was 10 minutes early collecting the kids from school yesterday so I called into the two shops at the bottom of town, both are local hospice shops but one is very pricey. In the other I got a BNWT Tu needlecord shirt dress with belt, full buttons, side pockets, in navy blue with tiny white flowers and pale blue flowers, not super cheap at £4.99 but I love cord and dresses with pockets.

I will be weaing this to work on Friday with thick tights, chelsea boots and a navy cardigan.

  • Recent charity shop purchases include:
Cellophane box of Aramis Voyager aftershave £3
A3 size oil painting of a girrafe £3
Jan Constantine mug with flags on it £1
    Vogue sewing pattern 1970s 50p
Canon camera battery charger for cigarette lighter 50p
Oh, and a wooden darning mushroom that is losenge shaped for £1. I had never seen one that shape before so had to have it!
As I try to buy secondhand first and new as a last option I don't see it as unusual. There is an interesting article on the BBC news website about secondhand buying in Finland for those of you that are interested.
