.........but who feels joy over a black t shirt?
(Holds up hand) Ermmmm.....I do! If it's a good quality, well cut, nicely styled one.
:o:o
Got an M & S t-shirt this afty in a pale aqua bluey/green from the St Gemma's Shop in Otley for 99p. Slightly longer length and with elbow length sleeves to hide the wibble wobble. Also picked up a few fabric remnants from the 20p shop for a few projects I have in mind!0 -
Inspired by this thread I've been foraging a couple of times. We're down to one charity shop within walking distance now; used to be three! But there are lots more locally if I drove out, and when I have a bit more time I might spend a day exploring them all.
Last week I got two DVDs; Hacksaw Ridge for us (really enjoyed it) and a bad-looking horror movie for my sister as a stocking filler.
Today I got a Phase Eight shrug for £3, a Phase Eight lightweight jumper for £6 (it might look better when I lose a bit of weight though, at the minute the gathering on the side highlights a roll of flab
) and a Zara jumper with dinosaurs on it for £3 which I love.

Stopped off in my local Cancer Research and got a brilliant evening dress for £2! After looking online, they go for over £100 new. Now I just need some sort of formal event to show it off.0

So agree to host the Family Christmas gathering?
Invite the neighbours for Advent drinks & nibbles?
Go the whole hog, limousine etc & embarrass the stuffing out of any children at the next Parents Evening...?
Sorry, mischief slipped the leash.0 -
Took a large bag of (clean, some expensive) shoes, clothes and books to a Charity Shop in Bridgnorth yesterday.
Gave it to the chap manning the counter, he grunted and threw it on the floor behind him, then turned away.
I shall NOT be donating to that store again, no matter how deserving the charity is!Normal people worry me.0 -

Why do they do that?
I fell out with BHF big-style many years ago for a very similar thing.
I had 2 bags of decent quality clothing (that I'd lugged into town on the bus) and when I asked where she'd like the bags, she huffed and puffed and said 'there'.
I replied 'tell you what, I'll take it over the road to Save The Children'.
And did.
I also contacted BHF to tell them they had lost a regular donor (my Mum & Dad both had heart issues) because of a surly volunteer.0 -
Miword yes, a bit of enthusiasm or even interest on the part of receiving staff does make a difference. I had to admit that the six bags had 3 pieces of suit but I didn't think they were together & there was also some outgrown school uniform - the dear lady's eyes sparkled! I warned her that some of the school shirts were not of the first water & she unleashed a smile that should have launched a thousand ships - and reassured me that they managed to move uniform items fastest.
I know where the next bags are going. That cs has always been high in my regard for their customer care (they went dementia friendly before it got trendy) & now I'm frankly brand loyal. For donations...1 -
