    Fourth Anniversary
My local Barnardos and YMCA charity shops seem to have the best bargains in books. Both hardback and paperback are all 99p each. A good choice of both and many fiction books that are still on sale in the big book shops.
My bargain of the day was a brand new, still with tags, cushion filled with polyester beads, ideal to mould into my poor aching back when I’m sitting to read all those books!
  • I have just happened to stumble upon this thread. I am astonished at some of the things you guys have picked up in charity shops. Seriously, new clothes and boots??

I think I'll need to start scouring the CSs. That could easily be my new hobby!!

I’ve seen everything from new Barbour jackets to Mulberry handbags in charity shops over the years!

A lot of stuff I have bought has barely been worn.

    Today's charity shop find:

5X local handmade mugs for £2.50. DH is currently drinking from a jar, I drink from a large Denby seconds mug, and we have some delicate Denby cups that sit in the cupboard never used. I'm moving these in and selling the Denby cups and saucers :)

    Those are beautiful!

And surprisingly reasonable, for BHF. And South Bucks, when I think about it!

As for books, these days 4 for £1 is the best I can find, but I can get some very good ones for that price.

  • Thermal binding machine, £4.99 from Cancer Research. Only a Lidl one, but brand new in box with unopened back of covers etc.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
  • Barbour jackets and mulberry handbags??? Seriously? Think I know where I'm headed tomorrow morning although I'd be very surprised if my local charity shops in my town had anything like that.
I was looking for the game of thrones books maybe I'll see if I can source some cheap ones in there haha.

MandM - I love those mugs and would definitely have snapped them up for that price too.

Yesterday I got DH a Penn running top, short sleeved in a sort of orangey red for £2.99 and I got a Nike v neck turquoise running top for £1.99.

I saw a lovely Tu Premium Collection top, slightly stretchy thick jersey fabric with ribbing in parts, long sleeved with a peter pan collar and single button to the back, it was a 12 and I wasn't sure the sleeves would be long enough for me as I am a 12 but to get the sleeve length I need bigger sizes quite often, anyway DD bought it for £1.50 on the sale rail (was originally £6.50 on their tag).

Oh my - Pendle hospice shop in Colne had not just 8 Manor Green plates (long discontinued Denby) 4 dinner 4 side for a fiver but a soufleee dish in Denby Encore that is unusual in its shape & decoration.

The Samaritans bookshop had four brilliant books - real technical this is how it's done - on weaving with power tools/looms. I shall read carefully then probably donate to the weaving museum for whom they will have a wider pool of people who appreciate these. ("The Samaritans bookshop in Colne" sounds like the start of a limerick. Feel free!)

Carefully not asking MandM90 what Denby pattern she's planning rid off - ethical minefield plus acquisition committee rules. Hope they sell for a bundle and enchant their buyer!

Called into the monthly stock clearance sale at the Sue Ryder Hospice this morning. Nothing much in the clearance sale but in the normal charity shop bit I was very pleased to find a pair of, as new, beige moccasin-stylee shoes in my size. Been looking for some all summer and these are just perfect. Make is Geox and I was surprised to find they sell for an average of £100 usually. Price to me....£3 :j
