Popped in to donate a bag of stuff into my local CS & ended up finding a Fat Face linen shirt with a deer & thistle/flowers print, a fitted black dress with lace on the shoulders & a really cool set of multicoloured stackable tupperwear lunchboxes with lids that slot into each other (£3.50, £2.50 & £2.00 respectively)

They sound amazing finds, bet you're chuffed! I don't venture into the town centre often as I can't seem to beat the competition, is there a best time to go or is it all just about luck?

I can't decide whether to divulge the location of my superb haul today, at the risk of starting a stampede, not to mention upping the competition! But here goes... if any of you can get to Wigan, do try the YMCA shop in the town centre. It has "Everything 99p" on the window, but at the back of the shop are a few rails of things that allegedly may have a mark or be sub-standard in some way, for 50p. All these things are on blue hangers, to differentiate them from the 99p stock on red ones.

Anyway today they were doing two of these items for 50p! Must be trying to make room for new stock or something.

So - for the grand total of £1 :j I came home with a pair of Matalan jeans (my favourite brand for a good fit) in my size, just needed taking up an inch, a pair of Next navy linen trousers, perfect fit don't even need shortening, a White Stuff sports teeshirt and a New Look lightweight teeshirt. I also got a M&S teeshirt from the 99p rails, and in another shop a Viz-a-Viz teeshirt for £1. A whole holiday wardrobe for £3 :T . I love those very fine cotton tee's that fold small for packing and weigh next to nothing, and always buy them when I see them. Hit the jackpot today! Incidentally, I can't see a single flaw on any of the four blue hanger items, so they are totally not tat.

Don't all descend on Wigan at once! :rotfl: To be fair, I have been in that shop and left empty handed on occasions, so it just depends what they have in stock when you go.

First time posting btw so hi everyone:j I've been reading through for the last few nights and some of the finds have been amazing I'm so jealous!

Welcome! New faces always good to see. You'll soon be as hooked as we are!

As with pretty much all charity shops, it's 50% luck in what people have donated, and 50% luck in you getting to the goodies before the other [STRIKE]vultures[/STRIKE] bargain hunters do! :rotfl:

It's a funny one, that place in Wigan. Sometimes there are things that should really be put on sale for ten times the price. I spotted a M&S man's top quality woollen suit today, 99p for the jacket and the trousers. Didn't even look worn. Pity it was far too small for my OH.

But there are a couple of shelves of chipped vases type stuff, and the manager was inflexible that everything on there is 99p, even things that would have been 50p in Poundstretcher like a single glass. You do need to be prepared to spend some time, and have a good rummage. The rails are packed so tightly that it can take a while to look at everything, as you have to remove each item then hang it back, so I discipline myself by avoiding colours that aren't me, and some types of fabric. Also anything labelled Atmosphere :rotfl: .
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Frith - I love a Breton top, I think I will wear my Crew Clothing red and white one today with some dark wash skinny jeans (rocking a where's Wally look), thanks for reminding me about it.

Miro - I remember those boots from M&S, I loved them when they had them in store.

I made a purchase yesterday. A pair of black Dr Martens Lette chelsea boots, they are a soft grained leather, double tab (front and back) for pulling on and off, they are a 6 and I'm a 7 but as DM's are generous they fit well and with my thicker socks too. I saw them on Saturday but didn't buy them because they were £20, I loved them and think I will end up wearing them constantly in wet weather and my Uggs in dry weather because they take no effort to get on and off.

dolly so jealous of your DM find - currently on the hunt for boots! Will keep hunting!

Also need to remember to measure my window in the bedroom. Was going to make some curtains but if I can find something suitable in a CS, that would save me a job (and £££). There were some lovely blue ones for £2 in a CS yesterday but unfortunately too short for our ridiculously long sash window.

Massive welcome to the new posters. This thread is amazing and will fill you with cs envy but optimism too.

I'm currently en route to Edenbridge, staying in Hever for a couple of days and dh and I intend having a look in Canterbury at the cs's but is there anywhere else I should be looking for cs shops. It may seem ridiculous but we are both more excited by going to these fresh hunting grounds than the other sightseeing we've planned!

    Great buy, dolly84. :T
I have 2 pair of DM Chelsea boots and wear them lots in the winter with short(ish) skirts & thick tights or jeggings/leggings.

Found a summer dress today for the outrageous price of 20p! :) New Look, knee length shift stylee, sleeveless and scoopy necked in a 'fuzzy' flower print of hot pink, lilac and black. Twas two sizes too big but being cut on the bias it just drops down to calf length and fits perfectly!! Found it in the weird 20p shop in Otley.

Also bought a vintage cotton dress, 50's stylee with a calf length circle skirt and fitted sleeveless shirt style top and with a wide self-fabric buckled belt. Stunning pattern of emerald green flowers on a navy background Cost £5 in the Cats Protection shop. Sadly it is just a touch too snug around the bazooms dept so will be going back. :(
