I thought the same Miro - yes, she's his ex wife (one of them?) Did feel for Meghan's mother - very elegant and dignified but I'm sure she'd have loved to have someone else to share the day with.
I'm off on 10 days hols to Greece next week - what to pack - capsule wardrobe? I wish - its a skill Ive never mastered
We go to a place in Greece that's a bit cosmopolitan, lots of stylish Italians, Eastern Europeans and domestic holidaymakers.
I like to look nice at lunchtimes as we eat in the town.
I plan on taking dresses (think Mantaray, Next, Tui) that I wear once in the evening and once in the day.
What's your luggage allowance?
Are you a trouser/top person?
Because you can ring the changes with a different top & trousers.0 -
Ha...I'm currently packing too for 2 weeks in Croatia. Determined to take a smaller case this time as our Airbnb apartment is up 120 steps...just hope the blooming view is worth it!!
I was in Croatia (Porec) earlier this month. Just make sure you pack comfy shoes/trainers, the cobbled streets are not made for heelsNormal people worry me.0 -
Had to walk away from a really lovely pair of Bergaus boots that could have powered cross cobbles in almost all weathers - as they were a size too small. Never mind, some lucky Cinderella will be along for them.
Chorley (Lancs) is well supplied with generous souls, even if most of the stores have revamped to show less but give you more space.
In two different shops we acquizzed a Denby Romany teapot, then lidded sugar & cups & saucers. Teapot needs a wash but that is actually a virtue in teapot - you know it isn't too heavy to lift & pours well.
At the shop with the teacups (PDSA) there was another pair of muddy hillboots & so I occupied a dressing room chair to doff my usual foowear & wriggle into these. Zamberlan and once washed, clearly outgrown before someone could put any serious use on them, for £6, when I'd guess they were at least £100 new. (I'll need to fit all my orthoses but I think that's the current boots replacement sorted!)
Plus a pair of karrimor antibes walking sandals £2 when amazon have them for £17. (I must remember to carry sunscreen as sunburned feet hurt A Lot.) Himself got a real Blunt Instrument of a rolling pin for 50 pence there which he regards as a high treat as it's easy to turn on the lathe into more ergonomic &/or period credible tool handles.
A goof haul if you like Denby & serious hillwalking footwear!0 -
Ooh, must try Chorley sometime, our local chazzers are all very bleak of nice stuff recently, although I got a lovely Jigsaw knitted jacket in a soft navy & ivory last week, and a Mantaray maxi dress - £6 each in CR & Mind respectively2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Always worth a browse & all within walking distance of Booths who do that rather nice free coffee for cardholders. As well as dashed handsome carrier bags, both for life & fabric...
Can't vouch for the frocks - frankly not my specialist subject At All!0 -
Killing time today before my 2 am (ugh!) holiday departure so oft I went to the Hospice Jumble Sale....only to find it was not on today!! Other people arrived looking forward to it so it was not just me having a senior blonde moment. Bit annoying but I had a quick squiz in their pawsh expensive new shop....found nothing tho. Determined to have my last pre-holiday chazza fix I sauntered on to the community chazza shop where I found an M & S 3/4 sleeved shrug-type garment in a cream colour. On the half price rail at £1.75 and as new and nice quality. Perfect to cover the goosebumps, (not a euphemism), when wearing summer frocks.0

Miro - enjoy your holiday.
Had a wet wander round charity shops in a different town yesterday with a friend.
Slim pickings indeed.
I bought a White Stuff casual jersey dress with pockets in a grass-green leaf print with a green & pink striped yoke and hem trim.
Not sure if it's a day dress or a bikini cover-up yet but will probably go on holiday with me. Cancer Research £4.95
A lovely soft lightweight scarf in shades of coral, green and black sort-of kaleidoscope circles with tassels. I like tassels.£2.00 Sue Ryder.
I tried on - on the shop floor as they didn't have a changing room- a Next linen dress and a pair of Next linen trousers. Luckily, I had a vest top on and a pair of leggings but I really dislike places that don't have changing rooms. This was in BHF. I rejected both.

How do they expect you to buy physical clothes without trying them on?! I know space has become a premium, but ye gods.0

They do say you can return to any branch of BHF but I don't want to take stuff back to charity shops.
I want to try them on and decide there-and-then whether to buy or not.
It's not (imho) the same as buying a frock from M&S or Next (not that I do that very often).
I did return an item once to our hospice shop (different branch) and the assistant got quite huffy about it.
A newish shop has opened in our town - not sure if it's MIND or SENSE - and they don't have a changing room either, despite it being a large shop.
"You can return it if it doesn't fit" just doesn't do it for me. I've rejected a couple of things that I might have bought if I could have tried them on.0 -
