Only you can know your own situation, but I would feel uncomfortable visiting a food bank if my cupboards were, as you say 'quite full'. As I said first of all, you are the own best judge of your own situation I'm quite sure.

thanks . spent a bit of time dealing with "glitch shopping" ie the offer with beans where i paid 25p for a tin and got 30p worth of points . There have been other shopping items like this so it has really helped me stock up where i would have struggled otherwise. Thankfully i am now at the point of a very full cupboard - most bought this month and still under £40. If i hadn't been such a savy shopper the situation would have been different - inventory list needs done next . So glad i don't need to visit a foodbank at this point

thought i would share my asda shop. i used a voucher for £6.22 spent 55p cash and got a voucher for £5.09 on next shop. asda price voucher thinks i spent the 6.80 on yougurts (spent 3) and compares to sainsburys at 3.50 . .i therefore get a apg voucher for difference plus 10% which is more than 3.30 (f so profit making which goes to other shopping costs). yougurt is going to feature heavy in my diet until 20th feb or whenever the yougurts are dated until

  • total so far is 59.64

massive jump in spending. Had to buy jumper plus new work trousers due to weight loss . total also includes £13 on hairdye . I also bought a planner so i can be super organised over the year recording my totals

IVE also got a few items on shopimum app which i will get full price back for. Counting as spends now then i can treat myself later in year.

Multibuy savings/money saved on reduced items and supermarket loyalty programs has been - £61.85 for this week alone. I have had 5x£5 morrisons vouchers plus any other multi buy /reduced items from earlier in month . Due to some items being free or paid to take away i have really stockpiled where i can and if i mealplan properly i can claw back most of the costs over the next month :P

  • Declaring the months total at £64.19 - although double i am still pleased and think i can make it up.Most individual days have been way under £1 its just the "bargains" where i have filled multiple cupboards

I got a lot of cereals etc which will last into march :P and other cupboard food . I could get away with no buys except from milk/fresh fruit and veg for the whole of feb . Its the will power. I see something on offer and have an extreme hoarder in me come out.

Spent £10 on eyebrows - not an every month cost
spend 10 on new trousers - again not an every month cost but ive sent down 2/3 sizes and i really needed them. .Saved loads on buying from charity shop :)

The only big areas i might need to rethink is my hair - i colour at home to save money but this was £12 this month without a haircut and i had some dye pre bought. I might start factoring beauty separate . I suffered from severe depression last year and the weight loss along with the healthy eatng and odd beauty "treat" is really to help me feel better about myself . Will see how the costs go.

    food plan rest of week

Sat - porridge for breakfast- unsure cost lunch- precooked pasta-( 20p) and apple -10p. snacks- muller corner- (made money on this ) and banana(10p) ,crisps(10p) dinner - soup -(45p)

Sunday - porridge lunch- muller corner and banana(12p) tea - beans on toast (beans were 9p - bread was 5p for loaf)

Monday/tue depends on any yellow stickers from weekend .don't need them tho
break - porridge/Weetabix lunch - might attempt to make a casserole with yellow stickered veg!! tea - same as lunch or maybe a soup

few spends i must add on

1.20 work lunch and coffee. was so cold out i needed something hot from canteen
i used my £5 rewards voucher plus 4p over for things like milk ,

Then 5.18 in asda but am thinking i will get quite a good asda proce gurantee voucher back . Happy to stock up on very cheap yogurts if i can get them.

I do have a question. Not sure where people are getting long life milk as cheaper than fresh? the best i can see is 1 litre for 57p . Fresh 3.odd litres is 1.48 so freah is cheaper

cheapest i can see dry milk is £1.88 for 300g 20g is a serving which makes 200 ml? not sure now lol but it seems such a pain

will update sig tomorrow then next task is to sort out shopping apps that reward on groceries

I use these apps quite a bit and they've saved me quite a bit over the past couple of years, including quite a lot of grocery freebies.

    Shopmium
    CheckOutSmart
    ClickSnap (via Quidco)
TopCashback (groceries section of app for weekly offers)
    Green Jinn

I also use OLIO app occasionally for free food from cafes etc which would otherwise go to waste, but availability varies hugely depending on which area you live.
  • Aldi's have UHT milk at 49 per litre and I think Tesco's do it as well. I spent £10.42 today so along with the £18.80 I spent about 10 days ago my monthly spends have amounted to £29.22.But I did have quite a lot of left overs from my Dds when I came home in the New Year, and my freezer was quite full to the brim with stuff I have bunged in there No more shopping for me for at least another 10 days. In February there are only 28 days and I am out for 12 of them so only 16 dinners to find which won't be hard as I do still have quite a lot of frozen stuff in store plus my tinned good and basic food cupboards are full as well. So I am pleased that I have come in £1.78 under the £31.00 for January

    Onwards and upwards

You've still done well mar-i-ella. £1 a day for everything was always going to be a tough call.

    Different people have different circs.

My hair costs me zero every year, as does both kids (teenagers) and mostly my husband. That's everyone with their hair-cut and mine dyed for nothing. Sounds great doesn't it, till I point out my Mum is a hairdresser and she does the families hair for free including buying my hair dye. She won't take any money for it, she told me last year she felt really bad about it as I'd gone to a hairdressers for a trim - at the time Mum was recovering from having a broken hip and hip replacement! Husband occasionally goes to the barbers which is where some cost comes in.

Keep going, love reading your posts
