Go off topic, I'm wasting the thread and not helping (I agree). Try and sincerely help the OP on topic, I'm interfering (despite being the first person to respond to OP). Attacking me all the time either way even when I'm not posting to you, seeing personal insults that aren't there!!! Have I done something to you personally?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

How does a Capita 'customer contact centre' evolve in PC World Tech support?
What's the matter with you?
They simply answer the telephone. Capita has absolutely nothing to do with the technicians.
Capisci? Hai capito?0 -
Sheesh...why don't we start up our own business and slightly undercut the Techguys.
We'll be millionaires within the year(Oh no, I am already), but I wouldn't be able to live with myself.
What a rip!0 -
I still can't get over falling down bloke saying that the supplier is not responsible for the item that was sold. Legally the OP just needed to return the faulty laptop to the supplier be it PC World, Currys, Comet who ever and give them the opertunity to put things right as Superscaper has been saying.
If the supplier wanted it to be delt with by Tech Guys then they should have made any arrangements for this to happen not the customer. The customer made a contract with the supplier to provide a laptop that is free from defects or faults for a reasonable length of time reasonable can be upto 5 or 6 years in some parts of the UK it depends on the item also you would never expect a cheapy £100 item to last the same lenght of time as a £1000 item but it should last at least 12 months if treated correctly.
Anyway the process of getting the repair has already started, all you can do is wait for te period to expire before you start asking to be refunded or replaced.0 -
I've seen the "tech guys" prices, I'm in the wrong business! most of the stuff is so simple to sort out yet they want mega£££, unless your PC is under warrenty I'd steer clear, most problems can be looked up on the internet and sorted yourself, fitting bits is a breeze too, I only think they keep your computer for a day or so is because they would be too embarresed taking £30 for a 10 minute job. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

Sleep2much, you need to remember that people buy PC's from places like currys and PCW because they know nothing else, their knowledge is limited so take the advice of the "experts" who remember are told to push the extras like warrenty, printers Norton Antivirus and the services of their in house techie service. They are also the people that touching a screwdriver or opening somthing up is scary so installing a peice of memory is a daunting task and they don't want to risk blowing up their £1000 investment of a PC so they would much prefer to pay £15 for a techguy to install a £30 peice of memory than have a go on their own. They would kick themselves if they knew how little is involved in installing memory but that is how PC Word and Techguys make their money.0
