If i can clarify-
Pc world wouldn't repair it,the techguys side of things arranged a call to their top techs i suppose,
we went through various ways to see if it was an error with drivers etc-it wasnt
upon that he arranged over the phone with me whilst in the store to have the laptop picked up
it was picked up i have the recipt,
like i said just waiting a part and their end has no expected delivery of the said item
what happens then after 6 weeks is up?0 -
How long ago, simon?
At the moment you have a simple standard Tech Guys repair on your hands. They handle thousands of these things and it will have been taken now to the agent for repair and it should be back within whatever they claim for this machine. Probably 7 days if they can get parts or longer if they can't.
If it is away for more than 6 weeks (but check with them on that because it could be different now) then you can claim a new machine and they'll arrange for vouchers to be sent just like that so you can buy one.
At the moment this doesn't need any anti-PC World rhetoric. It's just a broken HP machine being repaired.
Stick with it and keep getting updates because they'll have to chase it if you ask.0 -

Interesting. I'm not the one who made any negative comment about PC World on this thread but I'm the one who received the personal insults earlier."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Simon, I just MSNd a mate and it is apparently 28-day. If they don't fix it inside 28 days you call and claim and get a new one. Clock starts from when it is picked up, I believe.
My contact also tells me they have a huge backlog at the moment so the chances of a 28 day claim are quite high. Like I say, stick at it and you will win.
(Don't worry about it Superscaper. I'm just a cog in the machine who knows nothing, don't forget)

According to FDM you should get a new one then. Phone them to confirm it and also to confirm with them exactly how long it's been since it was picked up."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Why not let the OP sort it out with Tech Guys instead of trying to do the math for him, eh? I'm sure he's capable. It really would look like you were grinding an axe if you interfered at this stage
Simon, as I recall it is just '28 days' - but call and find out then let us know. They don't include courier travel time because they don't actually have it at that point, but that's a minor point (though I'm sure some will make it a major one).0 -

As I mentioned before, imaginary slights. It wasn't a dig at all. If anything I only mentioned you to credit you as being the source of the info. The fact you somehow inferred an insult which wasn't there from a plain statement is more about you than me. So far I haven't even tried to personally insult you, and I wouldn't do."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
