I haven't "seasoned" my clothes for a lot of years as I no sooner decide it is time for summer than I am back in winter woollies.

Since a stylist showed me how to make my summer dresses work even in the midst of winter (layering a jumper under a cardigan over so it looks like a skirt with tights and boots) I've given up with seasonal wardrobe items other than shorts and t-shirts or vest tops.
Everything else can be used 12 months a year (and the vest tops tend to be worn year round instead of bras now).Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Layering is good! I don't season my clothes either, I must say - summer t shirts are used under blouses with a fleece on top, and frankly maybe an old coat as well in the house. Summer trousers or trackie bottoms with fleece/thermals underneath. I have very few dresses or skirts
though I meant to get some more this year. I really like the thought of layering something really nice with something warm - I could do that. When I have the car, I'm going to be going out more, so maybe its finally time to do that regularly 😅
I posted off the two birthday cards - first class, as they're for Sunday! - and it really upended my day, I had to walk to the delivery office, nothing near me could be guaranteed to get it sent off before tomorrow. Things have really changed for the post! Anyway, I walked in a different direction from my normal one, which was good, and also I found a practically whole roof tile in a skip, and snaffled it. The retaining concrete that my awful neighbour has put in has a big, roof-tile-shaped hole, so I can just lay this one over it, and bob's your uncle, saves my soil from dribbling down into theirs (we're on a bit of a hill, and I'm higher).
Then I couldn't get back in the house 🙄
My front door lock has apparently needed a good dose of WD40 for a long time - my sister said it literally yesterday 🙄 because she saw how I had to faff to get my door open. I had to call on Lovely Neighbour, and he fetched out a can of WD40 from his garage that had a long thing spout, delivering the nectar straight to the workings of the lock. Hey presto. I also got to stroke the ginger cat that hangs about Lovely Neighbour's house waiting to be stroked 😺
I've done the washing machine, as well as the cards, and that's **it** of the list I made this morning. Terrible! The cards are what really mattered, though, and I'll try and do a bit more of the other stuff in a bit.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
Eeek to the lock issue, glad LN was there with the WD40. I sometimes have issues with my front door lock so should probably do the same though I do have 3 other doors to get into the house so have put it off 🙄3

Glad neighbour was there to help. Couldn't get in via my front door today and was just about to panic when I remembered I had gone out via the back door and hadn't taken the deadlock off. Walked up the hill and through the back garden and in through the back gate! All good.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I sprayed my own WD40 over every single moving part of the door, it's one of those five-point locks, so now it's very easy to use - it just never occurred to me before, I'm *so* bad at keeping up with maintenance.
Lovely day out today down to the coast with sister, to a town I thought was well past its best, but its been brought right up to date, lovely promenade, beautiful sunshine, free parking (for 12 hours!!!!) it was excellent. We saw the inside of a Martello tower too, with plenty of home appliances that we ourselves have used, never mind that our parents used 😂 We both agreed it was the kind of place to visit again.
I'm wined and dined now, in time for Strictly resultsGot to get my act together tomorrow, I've had a lovely lazy 3 days but there are some purchasing decisions that need to be made, as well as carrying on with the items from the updated list on the previous page. I *will* Get Things Done 😁

So glad your LN has wd40 and you had a good few days especially with all the sadness in your family
I find the led mask very relaxing actually so hopefully it will help youDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thank you both 🌞 and yes, the day was a real antidote to what's been going on. The widower has decided to take his kids for a holiday to the Maldives, which is where he had his honeymoon, so we'll speak to my brother after that, he needs his head in the game for a bit longer on his son's behalf. Bless WhatsApp and their 3 way free calling facility!
LWAP, I confess I haven't activated the facial mask yet - but I will, after my dental appointment tomorrow. I'm invited to the 2nd birthday of my sister's granddaughter - the other grandparents are going to be there too, and frankly my sister wants to put on a good show. They're rich. Very rich, as in multimillionaires. I'm not going to stress my sister out even more by not co-operating in this, so its all speed ahead.
Today, however, is a normal day 😁 I'm up a bit late, no breakfast yet but at least the washing machine is on. Tasks?
- get the washing out asap, bad weather forecast for this afternoon.
- dishwasher on after that, there's no clean pans left.
- quince have ripened on my quince bush. I'd really like to make quince marmalade, and it might be today or never.
- do the spreadsheet for the car! Next lesson is on Wednesday.
- tidy upstairs, looks like a whirlwind has been through 🙄🙃😾2023: the year I get to buy a car4
