Ditto, thanks for this - might be the solution for our dining room, where the rings are also set into the curtains and I was struggling to work it out.
I totally agree about the news.... it's painful. I say this sitting working with it on mute in the background - every now and then, when I think they have something new to say I turn it up and see, but my focus is on my work - as you say, sitting around watching endless reports of the same thing is pointless. It's a very sad, and very strange day though.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I'm just waiting for them to confirm the date of the funeral.
Glad you're on the mend, KC.2 -
Hi Karmacat. Long time lurker here. Re inserting lining. I had extra rings that come with another pair of curtains that I had kept for years. I put header tape on the fleece blanket. I put a cream ring in-between each fold of the actual curtain ring on the pole. I then attached curtain hooks and hooked them to the rings. See photo attached.3

Didn't do anything on the curtains over the weekend - just focussed on a short daily walk and tidying, though its still not tidy, of course
Done the Happy Wheel, balance is now over £20.
Had an email back from Leeds, I was trying to open a cash isa with them to transfer my low-earning cash isas ... they *still* can't verify who I am! It makes me wonder if I want an account with them, plus what I'd have to go through sounds as bad as my Sainsbo mastercard fiasco. And Sainsbo destroyed my council tax bill, the original one, so that's a problem too. Emailing Sainsbo? Hmmm.
The "plotting for uber frugal September" list had 9 items on:
- "patchwork" of fleece from my stash - stopped over the weekend but will resume.
- thermal blind material, which I'm going to use with velcro on windows. Not started yet.
- the sealant plan for the gap between the top of the skirting boards and the wall. Went well, there are 3 other much smaller gaps I'd like to see to.
- get back into using the slow cooker - done one lot, will put dried beans in soak today.
- restock the cupboard of tins - they were *so* useful when I was ill! Need that facility again. Sainsbo order is arriving on Wednesday.
- Toward the end of the month, another Healthy Supplies order - still planned for the end of the month.
- Apps: my bank app, and my Asda Rewards app, experiment with using them. Asda app not worth regular use, its almost entirely branded items, and took me an hour to go through.
- Join Prolific, even if I just have to go on a waiting list. Joined. I'm on a waiting list!
- Shift some ISA money, one of the rates is ridiculous (0.62% p.a.! Only on about £3,700, but still). The total to be shifted is £21k. For ease, I could just transfer to a new isa with the main building society for this money, which is coventry. Its 0.15% less than the Leeds one, which for £21k is £31.50. The fee for the certification that Leeds requires is £12.75 - meaning I'm only out of pocket by £18.75, but I'd have all sorts of struggle and hassle to get there. Much better to drop the application, after I've sent them a strongly worded email. That's my first job of the day 😎

Today I have:
- put the dishwasher on (always feels good).
- used the vacuum upstairs a bit, a you know what was clinging on to the lampshade directly above my bed. Took the opportunity to do a bit more cleaning there.
- lots of recycling out, though more needs to go.
- faffed with curtain fixings I have - I definitely need the hooks (£3.70 for 100) that are arriving on Wednesday.
- sent my sister some paracetemol she needs, she's not at all well. I had to scrabble for the stamps: I've been using up old sets I bought for the sake of collecting, and postage is so expensive now, stamps from the past are getting to be inappropriate. I paid £1.45, 1st class large letter, and to do that I used 4 x 28p plus 1 x 37p. And they were some of the biggest value stamps I had left
- so I consigned Frugality to history for today only, and spent £52 on various combinations of 1st and 2nd class stamps. Free delivery over £50, from Royal Mail itself. I really need them, and my cash flow can stand it, so there we go.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
Just check when you get them that they have the barcode & they aren't passing off old stuff on you. Can you tell I am not very trusting?

Tricky. Opened a 2 year fixed account with my 2nd choice provider, to transfer the isa I already have with them. I'll wait till the new details are up on the landing page then ask them to transfer in the bit of dosh from the other provider. I also needed to update details: not only my mobile number, but my new current account (that I've had for years!).
I need to log in tomorrow and check what's going on, then see if I can add in this other piece of dosh. If I can't, I just have to set up a completely new isa, which will be a pain, but better than nothing. I don't have any new money going towards isas, so its not a problem to open a new one.
Right, enough of this: Daniel Jackson is just about to die again on Stargate SG1, and I need to watch 😍😅😄😁😛2023: the year I get to buy a car2
