He was a cousin of my mum's, I only met him once, but he was a really good genealogy researcher and very generous in sharing his research. He had a few very serious illnesses, so he'd reached a good age.
I like the Autotrader competition, but I've fallen off the list - must find the comp and enter, thanks for the reminder.
I thought someone might benefit from the mention, good that it's you!
Glad you are managing the walk - I thought after your gardening exercise yesterday you were being brave going out for a walk too, so it's great that you've managed it with no ill effects!Ramouth said:Great to see you recovering ok and sensibly taking things slowly. I gave up caffeine this week and am feeling dreadful (almost migraine level headaches and crushing fatigue) so am trying to emulate your ways of doing things a little bit at a time. Maybe I need a master list like yours to keep track - are you finding it helpful?A little bit at a time is really the only way I can do anything at the moment - but my master list, absolutely, I love it. It means that there's *always* something I can do that takes me forward, and helps me overall. It's on my phone, and I don't delete jobs so it also shows me what I've accomplished

I enter the Auto trader EV competition each month, I also send a link to my family. Our eldest is now old enough to enter so I have been telling them to try winning their first car.
I am impressed @Karmacat at your motivation to keep making progress. As a fellow long term fatigue sufferer with added Covid recovery on top, I know how hard it can be and how it can be to do anything.

What a good idea! I must do that, I admit I never thought of it.

Aww, thank you. I do get horribly discouraged, but I won't write about it like that on here, there's no point, this is the place that pulls me *out* of that despair.

Mind you, its also wonderful to see a 9 month old baby using the stopper of a hip flask as a teething aid 😁 which was on my whatsapp feed todayI take whatever positives I can get.

Just looking back at the Frugal/ Sensible/ Soaring September plans I made, and the only finance thing I want to do right at this minute is shifting the cash isas to a better rate. Since this is the day of Martin's email, that could be good. Got to get a shift on.
Otherwise, its small jobs in the house - sinks that haven't been cleaned, a full laundry basket. Plus for the curtain reinforcements: - measure and prepare the curtain heading for the blinds, repair the plaster in the middle of the width so I can drill into it properly, hand sew the first seam for the lining. Lot of jobs.
Plus quite a few emails, and I'd really like to phone my brother. I need to get my finger out2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
Oh for heaven's sake! Wrong time of day to contact bro, he's running errands for his daughter in law, and I applied for the best-isa-for-me in Martin's list, with the Leeds, and they won't open an account because they can't currently confirm my identity. What? Really, life is too short!2023: the year I get to buy a car4

So frustrating when you can’t get the things you want to get done done!
As a random aside, have recently discovered how good citric acid is for cleaning- cuts through soap scum and destroys limescale too, so much better than other eco friendly options for cleaning. And quick too! Just thought I’d mention it as it’s quite MSE - I think you can buy it in Wilko.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks for that! I think I might order online from Wilko. Just spent the last half hour trying to buy basics from Boots online - re registered advantage card, hunted through masks, cough sweets, cheap body lotion, weird levels of address it wants, and it won't actually let me pay. Yet more frustration - the "card" option just won't activate.
Chat line won't help.
Customer service number is engaged.
Yep, the country's falling apart.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
Their customer care line answered after about 15 minutes, and they managed to take my order over the phone and phoned me back on a secure number so I could input the secure details safely (v impressive!) Had an email to say things are moving. A **big** palaver, they've had an update that's been causing problems. Story of our lives here on mse!2023: the year I get to buy a car3

Glad you got through… what a palaver though.
Link about citric acid here: https://www.thegreenishmama.co.uk/citric-acid-to-clean-your-home/. I had bought it as has heard it was good for limescaly toilets, which it is! But having read this article (and tried it in the basin), I think it’s going to be my new best friend for cleaning (which is not high up in my rankings of friends!!).

Madvix, thank you! I haven't made nearly enough alterations in the way I clean things, this is so good to have as a reference.
I hopped out for a walk, a bit further again today, though I'm walking quite slowly and it needs to be faster. I'm quite wary of that, though, that's the bit that's exhausting.
I'll sit and recover for a bit, then experiment with Asda Rewards, and do the first set of the thermal blind sewing.
ETA - Asda Rewards experiment took forever - only 2 extra items ordered, as 99% is about branded goods. Not worth doing on a regular basis, it took me almost an hour. You have to try these things to know2023: the year I get to buy a car3
