It sounds like you should sit with your feet soaking and your phone in hand.... sounds lovely!
I know what you mean about the heat though - it's bad enough when winter weather means it's not sensible to do stuff, it's worse when it's just as bad in the summer! (Not that I'll be doing much of anything today anyway.)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

a couple of phone calls made (space group and other friend neglected
), feet cooled and pedied, 1st coat of nail varnish applied - hmm, I possibly didn't shake the bottle enough
Heat not too bad till about 7pm, when I experimented with a walk - got to the end of the road and came straight back, it honestly felt like I'd just opened the oven doorso I splooshed a few jugsful of water on the garden, came inside and switched the fan on. Not all the time, but regularly enough to stop me feeling the way I did yesterday. Happy with that!

It got to 29.5° on the thermostat downstairs today. Upstairs was decidedly hotter. I'm very grateful for the paddling pool!

Yes, it’s 30 here downstairs in the thermostat - hotter upstairs and outside, incredibly. Hard to tell if I have a temperature too but I think so at times! Wish I had a paddling pool! So hot the cats have welcomed me wiping them down with a damp flannel - they’ve leaned into it instead of running off.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I don't have a thermometer
but its bleeping hot! And yes, hotter upstairs - I wonder what its like on the top floor of flats? I dread to think. My many-times cleaned cat litter tray not as good as a paddling pool, but still pretty good
Madvix, I can't imagine what covid is like in these unique-for-the-UK temps, I hope you're keeping okay. I'm just thankful we're starting our travels next week, not this week.

I'm getting to the stage that I'm gonna run a bath of cold water and just dip in and out of it through the day, cool myself down for a bit then no doubt heat back up in minutes, almost wishing I had a kid or a pet so I can put a paddling pool out and just spend the day in it.
Hope it's not too bad for you Kc, I'm liking the sound of flap jacks, I should make some sometime3 -
You could do that anyway, El - you don't need an excuse! I'm glad to see you up and around after your heavy day yesterday. I'm trying to avoid buying plastic, so dabbling my feet in the tray will do for me. Plus my fan on every now and again, and wearing loose (and very few
) clothes.
Space group victory: I pointed phone at a QR code, and now have access to whatsapp on my laptopwhich means detailed videos and pix of this that and t'other are more easily viewable. And I can type, as opposed to peck with one finger. Very happy.
Happy Wheel basic level not interested in me today!
Washing is out on the line, very soggy stuff like my bathmat, I've kept inside as a coolant as it evaporates.
Worked out what to eat without cooking, so I don't add heat within the house.
Done 2nd coat of nail varnish on *one* foot 🤣 which really isn't much use on its own, but its much better cover, cos better mixed, will do more.
I want to do more, but I really don't want to move around much. Slept fairly well considering, waking up every so often to switch the fan off or on, I'll continue that mechanism.

I'll second putting the paddling pool up, even if you're the only one in it! 😁
Glad you didn't sleep too badly. I need to peg the washing out too, can't quite bring myself to go outside yet 🙄 It'll probably dry within about half an hour out there! I was casting round looking for things to fill the machine with, and of course, I should have gone with the bath mat! I shoved the dressing gown in instead...2 -
I decided not to do any laundry on these extremely hot days as the thought of having to go outside to hang it to dry or collect it in didn't appeal. I plan to do the laundry later in the week, tomorrow I think we will be stripping all the beds so we can truly enjoy sleeping in the cooler temperatures.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Hi there - yep, I wasn't keen on poking my nose outside, but it was about 3 minutes in total, I can cope with that, it was quite early too.
I've started to organise my day sack, that I'll be carrying on the train - I don't want to have to open my big suitcase before I get on the ship, so it has to contain everything I need.
I also want to start organising information - pdfs sent to kindle and/or phone, that sort of thing. Tickets, insurance documents, all sorts of stuff.
Nail varnish is working - 2nd coat on 2nd footneeds another one, but that's okay, it's why I started so early
