Update on holiday tasks:
16/30 done
4/30 partly done
2/30 not before the trip
8/30 untouched.
I just spent about an hour cleaning two small rugsthe house is generally more dust-free than it was, but these two were laying underneath the big suitcase I'm taking, on a single bed, and they needed to be back on the floor, but they needed cleaning. Vacced off what dust I could, then draped them over the big thick gatepost and beat the dickens out of them
I really, really should have worn a dust mask. I might even rinse my hair, they were so disgusting. I need to clean the floors once a month or so - if I don't and they get bad, I avoid it for even longer. I just can't be sensible about cleaning, but I'm going to try
So, untouched jobs:
- clean flowerpots and kitchen table. I need to use the table, and I need to set up the automatic watering inside the house (see below).
- language research - this will be fun
- make woolly hat from scarf. This *should* only take about an hour. I'm hoping. Now I've finished the nightie, this is reasonable to do.
- planting. I think this one's too late. I have some half grown courgette plants - at least I know I could germinate them - maybe I could give them to one of the neighbours? Spider plants, aloe vera plants, and Chinese chives for later planting out, all need automatic watering (this is the capillary matting thing).
- nail polish on toes. Blue and shiny
- cook flapjacks - had to research a recipe using veg oil, the butter from the most recent shop was ripped open. Hope to do it today to avoid cooking in the heat.
- print documents - phone numbers, insurance policy, that sort of thing.
I have 9 days, all but, but I don't want to do any of this on the 9th day (sounds quite biblical)

It does sound exciting. I am vicariously excited.2

Try the courgettes Karma - they don’t take long to get going and it’s only just the beginning of the season now, so plenty of time for them to produce still. Although unless you have people nearby who will welcome them, probably one will be enough… I’ve already had five from my two plants in the last 10 days!!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

). I could plant them first thing in the morning, before it gets too hot.
There were some clothes & other stuff in the 2nd bedroom waiting to go to the charity shop - then I realised I could take them to the unit outside my local hospice shop, so that's how I got a walk in, early on this evening.
Plus I ticked off another item on my list: cleaned the flowerpots and table. There's more in the garden, but these were inside, and I wanted them clean before I went away. Tickety tick
Another tick: checked out some Icelandic and Greenlandic words. Greenlandic is tough! My favourite currently is "bye bye" in Icelandic, which is "bless bless". Not kidding2023: the year I get to buy a car7 -

Thanks El! Yes, I am
I'm just hiding indoors at the moment, from the heat, but I did cook some more flapjacks - if they'd come out well, I'd have frozen one for the hotel on the morning that we board, but the top is really quite burned, so I'll eat these, with yogurt, and cook some more after the heat breaks. So I can't cross it off my list, but I tried

they're healthy ingredients, its true, but they're burned on the top, the greaseproof paper is sticking to some of them, and although I scored them immediately they came out of the oven, I didn't then cut them when cool, so that became a nightmare 👀 totally my fault. New ingredient, the veg oil not the butter, that made a difference too. Live and learn

I hardly know what to do today - I ended up feeling quite grumpy yesterday, purely because of the heat, and even in the evening it felt unpleasant to go out, partly because there were two nests of flying ants erupting *right* by my back door 😠 their route out from the nest was right through the ant powder I laid down 3 weeks or so ago 😠
I *have* to do something though - so, since I did clean the flowerpots and the trays yesterday, I'm going to use the tray to fill with soapy water and clean the leftover shopping, finally. Then I'm going to refill the tray and soak my feet ⭐😛😺 which may even lead to me painting my toes ready for the holibob.
ETA - endless list of "to contact" as well ...2023: the year I get to buy a car2
