You're more of a prepper than me Watty. I don't have any chocolate! 😱4
-
I've become more of a prepper now I don't live in walking distance of a shop! And I've learned far more about what we'd need in a power cut after the power went off for 4 days recently 😂😂 We managed fine, but the first day had to trek to a neighbour for hot water which was a right fiasco. So a means of heating water is now first on the list (just a little camping stove - we eventually dug out the storm kettle but it was a right faff lighting an actual fire every time I wanted a cuppa).
Hot water = hot water bottle, tea, cup a soup 😊
Not managed the means of heating yet. Generator seems overkill when we've had 4 days off in 4 years (and all in one go). We've got a tiny open fire that doesn't generate much, but I suspect we'll install the solid fuel stove that we took out of somewhere else into the living room eventually. Certainly not short term though - blankets and hot water bottles and being slightly grumpy until then 😂5 -
Hi folks, prepsters and non-prepsters alike
I think my biggest prep for cold weather or a power cut is my bed, with a fully charged laptop and an extra HM quilt on top of my duvet
, which actually describes my situation right now, yay - I spent the day at my sister's, with my 10 week old great niece
who is indescribably cute, and is starting to focus for long periods of time
No chocolate here as a prep: I literally can't keep it in the house, I just eat it, addictively - no point doing that. At least my other food addictions (pesto, and tinned butter beans) are healthier for me
Cheery, absolutely, generators seem *so* expensive - not a good use of money currently (if there were zombies at the end of the road, I suppose I'd change my mind, ha). I can't think seriously about it at this time of night ... I might actually have to go to sleep soon, I'm shattered! Possibilities are being mentioned of more catsitting for family, and even helping my sister babysit for 5 days - much more exciting!2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
Morning! Well, I really didn't get enough sleep, but I've had no wind to contend with, so I'm really grateful for that. Washing machine is on, and the two projects I'm doing today are to carry on tidying the office (unused Christmas cards away!), and carrying on emptying the bookcase, so I can do my diy on it & get a quote for my double glazing, I want to get those two things done by the end of tomorrow, because I'm desperate to start my New Plan at the beginning of February. A few emails to do too, mind you, but they'll be short ones.
Lovely sunshine here - even going outside and doing some deep breathing might be nice2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
Glorious Sun here as well - walked over to the pharmacy this morning thinking I'd be in and out in 5 minutes bur they were late opening! - but at least we've been out and got some rays which was great! Evening all
the office is well on the way to being tidied, which is lovely, the bookcase is a little bit emptier, some washing has been dealt with, though no emails sent, didn't even have the computer on.
RT, I'm glad you got outside for a bit - I confess, I didn't put my nose over the doorstepwith having been out for so long yesterday, I needed to do very little today.
Beanie, I'm really hoping the catsitting happens - this would be for the niece who lost the rabbit. She wants to get a mature rescue cat that needs an indoor life. And I could have a cat like that in my house, rather than go stay somewhere else - I'd much prefer it, to be honest, it seems an easy thing to stay in someone else's house, a close relative even, but it still takes time, you don't have your things with you, its just preferable to do it here. I hope it happens!2023: the year I get to buy a car7 -
