Yep, it was absolutely horrible. There's something very problematic going on there. I've told my sister, and we'll deal with it together.
Do you still have the French place?2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -
Morning all! My word, it's foggy here, like most places I think. Almost lifted, now that I actually look out of the window again
So, I need a list today:
- 3 cards to catch the midday post, brrr, I don't fancy going out there, but needs must.
- clean the rest of the shopping. There are a couple of things that should be in the fridge (it's so cold at the porch, a couple of days doesn't matter).
- I really, really need to use up stored carbs - can't afford to waste food, should never waste it environmentally speaking. So a Victoria sponge will do well: flour and eggs in particular need to have their day.
Mmmmm .... if I do the cards now, and get them in the post, it would be fine to sit down with another cuppa. All mugs are clean, hurray for using the short wash on the dishwasher, another electricity saving I made.2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -

Good work there! Sorry about your nephew, I missed that the first time round (the forum keeps plonking me in several messages AFTER the one I last read, most annoying). Very insensitive!5

The cards went out, I had a bit of a walk, washed some of the shopping, it was good. Sitting relaxing - lovely to have Sky Arts now on Freeview, I'm watching a documentary on Joan Baez, who I've always loved, there's a segment now of her talking with Martin Luther King over several news interviews. Wonderful.

I also watched that documentary on Joan Baez. I came to her late but her voice has a really pure quality. I think I remember bit of her peace and human rights campaigning being reported but I had certainly never seen the 1992 footage of her in Serbia - especially the very moving segment with the cellist in the street. I was amazed at how revered she is by all the men that were interviewed. They really were all a little in love with her weren't they!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

They were, weren't they! I've listened to her, off and on, since college, I had a cassette tape (!) of a song she sang while they were under bombardment by American planes during their visit to North Vietnam. I found her early because I played folk guitar during voluntary work camps as a teenager, and the other guitarists knew of her already.2023: the year I get to buy a car4

Right, I'm having a long-drawn-out lunch - asda hash browns, frozen blueberries, a bit of pasta, and some frozen cauliflower - partly because finding the correct level of response to the nephew has been so difficult. Not prudish, but a line in the sand for me personally. I think I got it right, and it was a couple of lines in a much longer email helping him with genealogy, so we'll see. Couldn't have done nothing, and so it goes.
Now: finishing lunch, then maybe making that sandwich cake, and have some of it after a bit of cutting back of an overgrown couple of shrubs.2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
Ach, didn't do any of the gardening, but did actually do the cooking - I have to accept that the first time I did the twice-the-size cookery, when it went really well and tasted great, was beginner's luck. Need to go back to normal size bake, and then it will be perfect.
I kind of knew I wouldn't do much else
