debtfree thank youI had about ten weeks of live-in catsitting with her, over the space of two years, so I got to know her quite well.
Today ... I was going to fill up the remainder of the green bin, but the neighbour has taken it to help his *other* neighbour (the man's a saint!) so no can do. Plan today:
- home made ice boxes for the cooler I've borrowed (jam jars filled with water, put in the freezer)
- washing machine on.
- antkiller around the edges of the house.
- dig the trolley case out of the understairs cupboard. Harry Potter does not live there.
- ahem, finish cleaning shopping from Wednesday.
- shower and wash hair. Maybe cut hair. It should calm down before travelling.
- I soaked 3 small portions of beans overnight - cook them, load them up with onions that need using up.2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
Right, I've done the first four - now to cook the beans and onions and clean the shopping. The understairs cupboard was predictably horrendous - I did it once I realised I was dreading it. Very happy that last autumn I sprayed in there *strongly* with insect killer. Big, big spider body can be seen, and thats only the one that's visible **quakes in boots**2023: the year I get to buy a car3

Well done on ploughing though it! & eek to spiders!
I'm onto my list late today after another horrendous interaction with a tradesperson!
First thing - balance the books
Second thing - meal plan & groceries
Third thing - look at planner and plan to catch-up on all the missed items from the last week (a blue shrieky smilie would go well here)4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!3 -
Thanks for condolences on the spider ... I return them with interest on the occasion of the horrendous tradesperson! Things can get very tough very quickly.
That's quite an item, isn't it, sadly: "everything I missed from last week", sigh ...
Today - hmm, I kept going, once I managed to start. Of the list, the only extra thing I managed was the beans/ onions mix, and I added some cashews as well, just little extra bits needed to make a full meal, that'll go down well on the holiday. And little jobs done in the kitchen, too tiny even for me to list
Gratitudes (a la madvix):
- opened my hall curtain this morning intending to open the window, but didn't - instead, I watched a mini flock of sparrows gambol about in the neighbour's hollyhocks, and then ... they just sat there, enjoying the sun.
- fantastic cloudscape this afternoon - I was in bright sun, clouds were towering, very dark with an edge of sunshiney whiteness, absolutely gorgeous.
- I'm reading a freebie kindle book, science fiction, and its actually **good** - and there are no, I repeat no, typos. Second one in a month, I'm in clover.2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
I seem to be on a roll with my kindle. A couple of months ago I bought 25 books & only had to pay for 3 of them, total £2.97. Then on Thursday night I realised I had read all of them so bought another 27 & only had to pay for 3 again & again only a total of £2.97. That's cheaper than the petrol to go to the library would have been & unlike the library they haven't shortened their opening hours. The other advantage is that I have the font so large that when I fall asleep it falls on my stomach & not my nose!

Thats really good, badmemory! I love my kindle, I must say - I've put our National Trust tickets on it too, for instance. And I sent them by email, so I can download them to my phone as well
I *do* pay for a few books - Grace Dent's autobiography, I like her. The Deliciously Ella cookbook too - but only ever 99p onesI bought a new kindle, but I haven't charged it with books, and I haven't got used to how to use it, it might as well be a different device.
Clothes packing now! Or possibly the cleaning of the shopping, they both need doing.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
I wish I could enjoy a kindle but I like the feel of a book and pages!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

I too like the feel of a proper book, so I only used to use my kindle for times when I needed it in my handbag. But then my local library was closed & the main library hours were seriously reduced & my parking had to be paid for instead of free. I bought my 27 books for the same price as 2 library visits, although it was closed for months anyway due to covid. Now I can't be bothered with the hassle, especially as the covid rates are shooting up here.
