Nice one
I feel like I've had a bit of a wasted morning, though I've been exchanging nice Whatsapp pix and vids of cats and a rabbit eating a dandelionMy phone updated, and gave me the message that the SD card I inserted isn't working properly, and has been set to read only to prevent data loss. Backing up of the data is recommended. Which is what I've been trying to do ever since. My computer can't read it when connected by cable, I connected them by app but it seems so intrusive I'm going to delete it. Easiest way seems to be to set up my Samsung account and back the phone up to there, since its a Samsung phone. Bit of a 'mare.
Otherwise, I'm being forced to tidy the kitchen, the single cabinet that I've emptied has created complete chaos across the whole roomit's astonishing. But I might leave that now to wallow in the sunshine

Just realised RateSetter owe me 50p or something as well. I never really rated them (ironically), although I referred 25 people to them, the £500 share from this was far higher than any interest I made. Not saying I referred people to a dud, just they were always a bit "vanilla", I can totally see why they sold their loan book5

Ed, my impression is that a lot of P2P firms have gone bust, and for ratesetter to close to investors because they sold their loan book to a bank, I'm quite impressed with that! It may well not be as impressive as I think it is
after all I'm admitting on the FIRE thread I'm rubbish at detail ... anyway, I'm happy with them. Get your 50p, though
I'm glad you had a good whack from referrals, you were amazingly kind when I used your referral to join.

I've slightly derailed my Easter Monday plans by seeing a massive chunk of free Ancestry downloads I can make. A section of the family that seemed to change their name back in the 1850s, wanting to go posh, it seemed like they made a genealogical dead end just for me - but fortunately, it was a single-generation piece of madness, and what I've always thought is their name, *is* actually their name, hurray. To celebrate, I'm downloading stuff about siblings of my own branch - that actually is helpful because of roadnames and occupations and family graves and all that sort of thing. So I'm happy!
I've done a bit in the garden, as it's still sunny even if cold, and I may yet do a bit moreI hope everyone's having a good Monday

Thanks Cheery! I've got lots of new documents to organise now, one in particular is interesting, about the lad who died in the First World War in France. He tried to join the Navy at the age of 15, and his mother bought him out for £20. What a thing ... at least the Navy had a mechanism for safeguarding a teenager like that, some of the time.
This morning, my word, a couple of family emails, which both took aaages. Plus the delivery of my Boots package: I'm really noticing that delivery people have sort of given up distancing from the front door of the house they're delivering to - don't know if that's just in my area, because the rates are low here, but I asked him to put the parcel down and step away, and he did. I called out thanks, because he seemed quite annoyed about it. Hey ho, I'll stay with *my* best practice, though.2023: the year I get to buy a car4
