Thanks both
Am slightly zombified today, completely my own fault this time, I mustn't eat more than a very small portion of beans in the evening, and I broke the rule. So I spent the night staring at the ceiling, staring at my phone, staring at my duvet cover ... you get the drift. So I'm going to be careful about that, and I'm going to go for a walk today, possibly a couple of walks. The light is starting to reach early evening! Woooo!
As to what to do today. I really can't face doing anything on the French accounts. It's occurred to me that I spend hundreds of euros a year for very little work by my accountant, and they should really have taken the initiative in encouraging me to get amended invoices. I'm not a happy bunny about that.
Otherwise, I've checked the money from the PO has arrived in my current account, and it has, so I'll close that account today and get on with a new isa. I didn't manage to put the dishwasher on yesterday, that *has* to be doneWorking on my Asda delivery that's coming tomorrow (frozen celeriac is now to be ordered, it tastes good, apparently?) and tidying the kitchen to jam the order in there. And it *would* be nice to get this new radio tuned **boogies in anticipation**

Nor can I, RT, never fear. And I can confirm that Asda don't do it - it looks like Waitflower only, if at all, so thats a no from me
Not that bothered really: always willing to try new stuff, but I'm told it's like gentle celery, and I'm not awfully fond of celery, so Bob's your uncle.
I've done all the other stuff - Asda order amended, dishwasher, closing PO account, and ta-da, I even went a walk - it was actually raining, so I looped around close to home in case the heavens *really* opened, it was sooo nice to be out and about. I'm not ready to do anything physical, so I've just been faffing with my notes on a great-grandfather's service record during WWI - poor man was described by the army as "emaciated", it's fascinating in a horrifying kind of way.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -

He'd served in the military all through WWI, beanie, though he was forcibly transferred out of the frontline battalion he initially joined, and this was in 1919, when he's described as having bronchitis - I'm wondering if it was Spanish Flu, actually, 17 days in hospital. He was fine in the end, never fear - he died in 1952, a respectable 71 years of age, not bad for a working class man in those days.2023: the year I get to buy a car4

Do you think it could possibly have been TB? I thought that was more likely to lead to being emaciated. Probably totally wrong.

I think it is really interesting when you find details relating to your family. My paternal Grandmother was one of four surviving siblings born of a marriage between a merchant seaman (retired to run a pub in Lambeth) and my Great grandmother who was half his age. Apparently she had another 3 babies that died in infancy, when she was still in Whitechapel and he was still away. It wasn't until I was watching Kim Cattrall on Who do you think you are? and she was told it was common for babies to die early if one of the parents had syphilis that I wondered if he did indeed have it!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Yesterday's chat inspired me to turn to my 1930s/1940s photos, mostly to see him, actually, and it was lovely. I was also able to sort out some duplication and getting the best photos into the right order, which felt good.
So, today ... supermarket delivery, finally! The 16kg sack of flour has finally cycled it's way through the freezer (not on a bike, no, you norty lot) so the freezer's free again for all the frozen veg. Annoyingly, there's no ordinary feta cheese left, so they downgraded me to smartprice feta, but that's made from cow's milk, so it's no good for me. But they *upgraded* me for a veg mix, which is also no good to me because its a third more expensive per kilo, and I'm not paying that. Ho hum. Worse things happen at sea.
My PO account has finally closed, but I think I've shot myself in the foot - I have access to plenty of money, for sure, but I need an easy access account too, so I can cycle money into and out of my current account, for the rewards scheme. I'll have to rejig things slightly, this week at the latest.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
I didn't realise smart price feta was cow's milk, going to have to check the Lidl Greek style one I have, they'd sold out of the actual feta I usually get.3
