Re your leather belt - two capfuls of raw linseed oil with one of clear vinegar mixed and on a soft cloth will work as a leather conditioner, then beeswax it

Thanks for that, SL - at the moment, I've done 3 layers of organic rapeseed oil, which is what I cook with day to day ... aha, I'm reading about the vinegar cleaning the leather?  Lets face it, it's over 30 years old, I'm sure it could do with cleaning :) otoh, it went through my washing machine at 60 degrees last month **faints** so I'm going to leave it. But it's really good to know the principle behind this stuff, I have a leather handbag that's even older, so that could definitely use a clean. Beeswax sounds gorgeous, much better than the neutral shoe polish I was going to use   :open_mouth:

Scheduled phone call with my sister this morning, *and* I got up lateish for me, I seem to have done very little today.  Sum total:
    - aforesaid phone call.
    - confirmation that last set of premium bonds had gone through, so I've bought the next set.
    - checked with a friend of mine who lives in Woking, she and her family that she lives with are fine.
    - moved a paving stone from the front, managed to get it to the back and actually put it in the right place under the fence.

I should have emailed Norfolk rellies and sent some money from the Post Office to fulfil the Rewards part of my current account.  I got distracted, what can I say?  So, I'll do those, check my Coventry BS account as my phone has deigned to work again, I'll iron the face mask material, and do a sort of casserole thing in the oven (potato, sweet potato, cashew nuts, quorn, mushrooms, some previously cooked kidney beans.  Changing the bed would be a domestic task ticked off too.

Argh, Post Office website is down at the moment.  Five little tasks, none of which are actually hard work.

Okay, that mid-afternoon post of mine from yesterday put me to shame when I logged on this morning, so since then I have:
    - emailed Norfolk rellies
    - sent money to Natwest for rewards box ticking.  It may not get there today, not sure, but I've done what I can.
    - finally managed to connect with Coventry BS (modem got fussy this morning!) and it's good news, I'll leave it entirely alone.  Fixed rate isa till May 2022, earning 1.75% p.a.  Very nice.
    - did the casserole thing, overate wildly :)
    - cut the dangly threads off the newly cleaned facemask material, I'll iron them soon.
    - changed the sheet, will go now and change the duvet cover.
    - dishwasher is on, it was all getting a bit much in the kitchen

Pleased at that.  The rest of today:
    - iron facemask material and change duvet cover, as above!
    - put the washing machine on.
    - draft email to French maintenance agent re VAT
    - fit the 2nd paving stone I dragged to the back garden.  Only 1 more after that.
    - little parcel with the right address and the wrong name has turned up.  I need to send it back.
    - I need to contact a part of my family that's grieving.  Here's a stupid piece of modern etiquette: when it's a couple, and they don't have a landline, whose mobile do you choose?  The one you speak to face to face or about admin, or the one you're related to?  I'm leaning towards the one I speak to, but I'm slightly freaking about it.  Never mind, they're together today, it will be both.  Sorry for the divert ...

ETA - one *huge* thing I did yesterday was dig and clear the bramble roots from behind two shrubs/trees I haven't been able to reach for years.  They were enormous!  And there were 3 clusters of roots all linked together, it was horrendous.  In the green bin now, though I'll have to watch for little remnants shooting up.  Very pleased with that.

Your daily gardening exploits are so inspiring KC!

Yesterday, I tidied the herb garden in the horse trough and the huge pot near the front door.  I'm rather pleased to see several plants are sending up new growth - I'm still learning that many things that won't overwinter across the pond & are treated as annuals there, but are definite perennials or bi-annuals here!  Lots of bulbs coming up in all the various places I chucked them last year & even some I don't remember planting!  Today's plant time involved the indoor windowsill herb garden - much has been trimmed & the dead basil plant found a new home in the wheelbarrow for the farm-hand's burning pile / compost conditioner.  Windowsill is not finished yet - still a good wipe down of the sill and outside of the pots to come.

RT, thats lovely!  Loving the sound of all of that, the horse trough, the big pot, the indoor herb gaden.  Gorgeous.

I'm having a slight delay in getting going again after lunch, which is often the way.  But I *have* sent the little parcel on its way back to the sendee, and I *have*, even more importantly, phoned the grieving couple, and I chose the right phone and the right time.  Very pleased to have made contact, with life being so empty of physical contact, moments like that are even more important.

    February List
    1. Yes, I'm carrying on buying premium bonds.
    2. Yes, Coventry BS is sorted.
    7. Face masks - cleaned, trimmed, I *will* iron them today, ready for making.
    9. Paving stones/concrete posts: 4 are emplaced, 1 more brought to the back, 1 remains out front.  Concrete posts (30" long or so) are all already in the back, such as they are.
14 - 16 daily stuff, core exercises, facial work, and vitamins: yes to all, each day.
    17.  Yes, found the handset a few days ago.
    19.  Another layer of oil onto the Next belt, I can do that today.

Of the 23 items, I haven't touched 12 of them at all yet.  Not bad, since it's only 3rd February.  Giving myself a tick on that
