In fact yesterday he might have been dragged in to see the croissants someone posted a picture of. He is going shopping today and there they are, on the list (along with chicken, added after reading this thread!)It becomes a genuine part of our lives, doesn't itI'm a bit torn about what to do today: anything too physical isn't really on, my shoulder hurts and my fingers hurt, and I need to safeguard my energy for the shopping collection tomorrow. I can use the slow cooker to cook a stew, but otherwise it might just be tidying - heaven knows, upstairs still needs it. After a rootle around on here.

So, chatted with sister - its an anniversary in our family - and meantime peeked out my front window, where an emergency ambulance and a rapid response vehicle were parked
I know the house they went to, poor man has heart problems, so it might be just that. The poor ambulance personnel were wearing those flimsy aprons
and I've worn them myself, they hardly help at all
I got to grips with garden centre orders - spent £90 (yikes!) on compost and chippings, a garden hose, two deep tomato bags, an irrigation feeder and some stable manure. They're not used to online ordering, but phoned me back within the hour, set up payment, boom - though delivery is "8 - 6 some time over the next 7 days" - pretty much like JL, actuallyI'm prepared to forgive a little garden centre thats trying to step up. They will leave the stuff on the premises if they don't get an answer, so I'll have to keep checking.
Going to sort out which computer I want, so I can do it as quickly as possible when its right to order.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
Definitely rejoined the 21st century - my computer stayed on long enough for me to buy a replacement - a Lenovo to the specs I listed, plus its 7 core, and SSD, not HD. Really pleased - paid an extra fiver to have it delivered some time on Monday, better than wondering about it over 8 working days.

I envy you your lovely new laptop, KC. Wishing you years of fun and productivity from it. Mine is so slow and has a pathetic amount of storage space in it but our broadband is probably the real culprit as it is dire. Barely faster than the old 'dial up' days. I keep lusting after a Mac but the outlay wouldn't be worth it as even the best specified laptop in the world wouldn't be enough to get much out of our broadband speed and frequent 'drop outs'3

I feel honoured!
Karma, that's great news about the computer and quick delivery. Good news too about the garden centre delivery - mine has still not got back to me about the order placed last Tuesday - they've been inundated, so I guess I just have to be patient and wait. Bit frustrating though, as no confirmation they've even received it.

I heard somewhere that garden centres might be in the first wave of businesses to be re-opened to personal shoppers but I don't expect it will be yet. Obviously in your case, KC, without a car and needing heavy stuff like bags of compost and manure an online delivery would always be favourite LOL. DH needs some greenhouse glass to replace a few panes that were damaged during the early spring gales but I've forbidden him going to B&Q which I think has recently re-opened. He has underlying health issues and although not on the NHS official 'shielding' list he should be ultra careful. I'm afraid he's a lot more 'que sera sera' about the whole crisis than me. My constant vigilance lest he sneaks off somewhere is doing my head in.
Have a safe, sunny weekend everyone x4
