Your thing about negative/positive comments got me thinking here - (imagine a big paragraph deleted here). I know what it is! I want to look like **me** again - because I don't, not at all. I've adjusted my self image to an age-appropriate one, yes, but there's still a lot missing.

What a lovely post. Thank you for expressing so much of what, I imagine, a lot of us feel:T:beer:0 -
How wonderful, wishing! I'm glad it struck such a chord with you (and with FS too

It's a theme, isn't it! I'd forgotten it was already in your sig, beanie, but I've been reading it for all this time, it sank in subconsciously :j
I'm done for the day - great shower, texted with bro, watched Julia Bradbury, dishwasher is on, washing is nearly dry (even though it was indoors - my washing line fell down, I haven't got round to repairing it yet). Found another pair of socks to throw out - but they have a Christmas scene of cats on them, so I'm cutting those out :rotfl:

Do you know, the "why" I wear earrings (they are 9ct gold hoops) is a bit complicated. I wasn't allowed to have my ears pierced until I was 18 and an adult in law. I had them pierced shortly afterwards, much to my Mother's disgust - she deemed it "common" at that time (we did explain the Queen has pierced ears...) - not any more but she is never going to recommend it! - Therein lies part of the reason. I first left home to live in a travelling community where everyone wore earrings sort of as a way of investing their money in themselves where other possessions were sometimes transient, and it marked a rebellion, passage to adulthood, something of value on me so I was never destitute and part of who I became and still am inside. Where I have not worn mascara for perhaps 5-6 years, I would not feel right without earrings (I have more than one pair but sort of forget to change them much). It was just a few lashes that were too long - at one time I cut the tips but that is a bad idea.
As to colours, I know what suits me and do have some clothes in those popping colours - just not new ones. I might wear something different as we are going to a party tonight but I am happier in my jeans and a sweatshirt (and hoods do keep my ears warm!).
On one level I wish I could mind more, but on another, I would not be me if I did.
Completely with you on moisturiser - it is the one thing I spend lots (for me) on and the best cosmetic for me.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Don't just pull hair back into a mum bun - brush it into a pony tail properly - below shoulder length hair. Usually wash and leave it. Occasionally straighten the ends just to tame it. Weekends or sometimes mid week see it sometimes just scrunched back
Wear a pair of earrings -yes - but only because I leave the same ones in 24/7/365!:rotfl:
Never less than foundation, mascara, blusher and lipstick - should take 90seconds. - nope. Think I wore all that for my wedding back in 1995..... Mostly wear a sweep of mascara (short, pale eyelashes which disappear) Maybe 2x/ year get eyebrows shaped and dyed (hair is there but almost clear - not white or grey or even blonde - just invisible! - so it looks at first glance like I have very little eyebrow!) Never ever wear foundation or blusher. Maybe wear a neutral lip tint around twice a year.
Shoes & scarves appropriate for your clothes (rather than just putting the same old pair of scratty trainers on)live in pull on trainers most days - sometimes even for work.....
Just catching up but couldn't resist replying to this. I'm known for how low maintenance I amI'm 50 in March and last dyed my hair around 15+ years ago. I get it cut maybe 2x/ year (usually a cheap dry cut) and live mainly in jeans and jumpers (jeans and vest tops in Summer) except for work which = black trousers, some sort of top and (usually) a long MnS cardigan

I love hearing about other people's clothes/hair/beauty regimes :j what an interesting discussion, and I love how we're all so different :j
I go through phases... my hair is long (below waist length now  ) but I cut it myself and mostly just pull into a really untidy bun. I do very occasionally straighten it which I like the look of, and sometimes wear down at work but not often. Don't think I've dyed it since I moved to a house with a septic tank:rotfl:
I do always wear earrings - at the minute a pair with little dangly treble clefs:j Mr Cheery often buys me a pair for Christmas - never expensive and I regularly lose themCheap and cheerful for me (but I do like them to dangle). I have the top of one of my ears pierced too and that's had the same decorated silver ring in since 1996
:rotfl: only took it out when I went into hospital. Mostly I forget it's there
I do tend to wear the same clothes over and over... knee high boots, leggings skirt/dress and a cardi for work, and jeans and a jumper (and a permanent hot water bottle at the minute) at home. I do dress up occasionally and like it - but I so often find myself wading through mud at the minute :rotfl:
And I've put on about 3 stone in the last 5 years ago - I was far more experimental (although not necessarily smarter) when I was happier with my weight.
Just a little bit of makeup for me - foundation, mascara, fairly unobtrusive lipstick - but I do wear it every day and rarely go without, even if I'm just at home. Don't imagine I look made up though - it's so little probably I'm the only person who notices
I've got a lot of cheery clothes (.mostly. charity shop) and one of my aims for 2020 is to get back into them! :j0 -
I went out exploring the edge of the next town south, where a new Lidl has opened (difficult, because the railway people are doing landslip work  and what **fantastic posts** to come back to, thank you all so much :j:j:jSuffolk_lass wrote: »Do you know, the "why" I wear earrings (they are 9ct gold hoops) is a bit complicated. Thanks again all - powerful stuff2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
This is all really interesting, I think we are all low maintenance girls! I ride a bike so the people I mix with tend to not be particularly girly either.
I am usually to be found in jeans or jogging bottoms even though I have a wardrobe full of clothes, mostly dating back to when I had more money, energy and a social life
I wear 4 pairs of earrings, I am quite a greedy person :rotfl: I've just been for my annual haircut, I discovered that after years of paying £30-40 every 8 weeks that I could grow it and trim the fringe myself! I do usually wear concealer, blusher, eyeliner, mascara and lipstick when I'm going to work or out but never foundation. I cant wear jeans for work but I never look very groomed at all, I really don't have that sort of patience :rotfl:
I am now up to over £800 Karmacat :T it would be more but I've now realised that I'm not very good at trading, I was doing quite well but then it went downhill so I am mostly just matched betting again!
