KC - you won’t need any cash in Norway and Denmark. Like Sweden they’re pretty much cashless. Visa or MasterCard contactless is the norm. Amex still needs a PIN in Sweden as for some reason contactless doesn’t work. My mum took cash to Norway and brought it all back. I’ve never seen cash in Sweden or Denmark although it probably exists...0

Oh drat, I've heard about that! Well, the minimum I could order (of all currencies) was £500 - so it was a question of "how can I get it to £500. Oh well, I'll be converting it all back! Thanks for the reminder though, greenbee.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I spotted what you did there... you set up a list with some stuff you don't really want to do on it. Then you added other things of more interest (the camera) and discreetly left the things you did not want to do, undone.
I do that every day. As long as there are lots of bits done, it usually doesn't matter, unless they are time critical. This all sounds very exciting, 2 cruises.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

It was only 1pm, SL, I can't do the whole list in the morning **sobs** :rotfl: there's also an energy issue, and a chronic fatigue issue - between sleeplessness (6am waking is **good**) and swollen glands, ordinary things are often quite tough
but I do stack the lists according to personal preference and selective ignoring, and then rush at the end, its true, you got me :rotfl:
- settle fridge/freezer in
Now delivered, it's cooling down. I still need to clean it and the floor (evaporative "tank" of previous f/f was very, very full)
Still not done!
- send money between accounts online
Done.
- finish herbs dehydrating
They're finished, once they're cooled down I'll put them in little kilner jars.
Done.
- put washing machine on.
Not yet.
Done.
- order currency. I have lots of euros, but I need roubles (I need roubles :j:j:j) plus a bit of Danish and Norwegian walking around money.
Done. To be collected from Waitrose on Thursday after 2pm.
Can't collect until tomorrow afternoon.
- plant up the rosemary cuttings - I'm going to put them in a container in the bath, and use the horticultural wicking material I bought last year but never used.
Got the plantpots set up, need to find the rooting powder, and go from there.
I'd like to pretend it was too wet outside to do this, but it wasn't, after midday it was glorious, I just didn't want to do it :rotfl:
- ETA: I've also deleted all the photos on the camera, now downloaded to the laptop, and I'm charging the camera.
Done.
Today's list to come!
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Carry-overs (bad KC :rotfl:)
- clean fridge freezer
- plant rosemary cuttings
New to do list
- research Helsinki
- note insurance details for emergency use
- tell cruise firm about food intolerances
- back up computer (done emergency flash drive, just got external hard drive now).
- shine my shoes.
- start to collect for packing (done a little bit).
If I see my neighbour (the garage where he spends a couple of hours a day doing DIY man stuff is opposite my front window) I'll leap out and have a word.
That's 6/7 new ones, and finishing up two existing ones, but the new ones are nearly all pretty short. Should be okay.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
- clean fridge freezer
Cleaned all the outside.
- plant rosemary cuttings
Found the rooting powder, all done - one of them had an actual root system :A got to figure out a way to protect them, but I'm further forrarder.
- research Helsinki
Started
- note insurance details for emergency use
Done.
- tell cruise firm about food intolerances
Done, and they booked me onto an "allergy" programme, where you meet the Head Chef
- back up computer (done emergency flash drive, just got external hard drive now).
Done.
- shine my shoes.
Not yet, thats okay, its sunny in the garden, I'll do it outside.
- start to collect for packing (done a little bit).
Started, and I have a standard list on my phone to tick off - its going well!
- If I see my neighbour (the garage where he spends a couple of hours a day doing DIY man stuff is opposite my front window) I'll leap out and have a word.
I must look like the classic curtain twitcher, but I haven't seen him yet :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
KIND OF CARRIED OVER
- clean fridge freezer
Cleaned all the outside. Still not done the insidepriority now!
- plant rosemary cuttings
Done, and I set them up in DIY cold frames outside, but between how cold it was, and the prospect of ex-Hurricane Lorenzo, I don't think my arrangement will hold, so re-evaluating.
- research Helsinki
Started And still not finished
- shine my shoes.
Carried over from yesterday
- carry on packing.
- watch for my neighbour
Curtain twitchers of the world unite!
ADDED TODAY - UH OH.
- research Tallinn. I did already start, "just" need to finish off.
- plant ginger segments in biiiig plant pots.
- collect rail tickets and currency, bit of a shop at Waitrose (afternoon).
- order supermarket delivery for the day after return - I have my flu jab that day, and I *know* I won't want to go shopping.
Not that much left, actually: finishing packing, food for the journey, another shower and hairwash; then if possible, sew a button on some trousers and paint my toenailsTomorrow.

Exciting news about your cruise. We did a Baltics one a few years back which took in St Petersburg as well as Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallin, Oslo and Copenhagen. All wonderful ports but especially St Petersburg. As you know you will need a visa if you get off independently but we only did the organised tours. Tallin was beautiful. A warning that the Scandinavian countries are expensive. I think we used mainly cards there. Estonia was quite cheap as I recall though.
We have just booked our next cruise to celebrate my 60th next February in the Caribbean. Such an effortless way of travelling.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thats great to hear, saver
it's almost the same itinerary, except we're not stopping at Stockholm. We had 14 days in Norway last year, and we just had to get used to the prices
this time, we *need* the organised tours for St Petersburg, as you say, but the rest of the time, we'll go "independently" - I think that will most mean the hop-on hop-off buses, which seem to be everywhere these days. We'll buy the tickets on TripAdvisor, of all places :rotfl:
The jobs are going okay, though the only thing thats finished is collecting the currency and the rail tickets! So no list update.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
It's always just before a holiday .... the management company has changed hands, which I knew. They've changed their bank details (apparently last December, huh, I don't *think* I knew that). The website, which I've been checking, says I have a credit of E87. This evening, two invoices turned up in my email inbox, telling me I owe nearly E500 ... oh joy. Just written an email saying, erm, what about the E87. And I can't pay online at the moment , so I'll have to send a cheque. If they don't answer before I go, I'll send the full amount, trust it can be laid against future invoices. Words cannot express how I feel about that apartment
mostly because they have to be in French
