Aww, thank you all
we had a great day. Edvard did us proud, his paintings are as impressionistic and as colourful as Van Gogh's, and I understand why his prints are a bit gloomy now: poor guy, his mum died when he was 5, his only older sister when he was 13, his largely absent father when he was 24. Anyway, then we had tea outside, and found a fossil shop on Museum Street that neither of us had ever seen, which was even better

Apples get rubbed against the leg of my jeans (like a cricketer), broccoli or cauliflower gets a swish round in the pot with cold water before the water they cook in goes in. Potatoes get peeled. Oh and bananas get peeled lol.
Dont throw me out for being a mank please !!!
Kc I understand where you are coming from of course and of course it makes sense for you to do such a thing
Daisy xxIf I trusted my immune system, I'd be doing exactly the same, though I'm glad you peel your bananas, and one of my fave foods is jacket tatties (unpeeled :rotfl: - if I start doing them myself, maybe I'll need to do organic?). Far from throwing you out of the club, I'll appoint you honorary president, if you like :j

Glad you had a good day. Does the shop in Museum street sell all kinds of shells as well? I used to go to one that did down there, had been there for years.0

I love fossil shops:j. What a great 'find'. Did you buy anything there? I'd have reverted to my old spendthrift self and gone back into debt had I been with you:o. I've a gorgeous half geode, a Brazilian amethyst one, that I keep on a shelf of my bookcase. Not technically a fossil I suppose. The colours of the interior of it are magical. Not a day goes by when I don't handle it and feel joyful to have it. When I was really deeply in debt and selling everything that wasn't actually nailed down the geode was one of the very few things that I couldn't bear to part with. Would have brought in a tidy sum too but there are some things, even to a totally broke person, that are worth more than money.0

Hi folks! It was a remarkable shop - there was a chunk of fossilised tree maybe three feet tall, that was going for £900, but there were also lots of little bits - presentation "eggs", a few crystalline things, ammonites, for £20 - 40. No shells teapot, sorry! It might be the same shop, or it might be they've changed their stock policies.
I can understand keeping hold of your half geode, Noella - yes, some things are worth more than money. I didn't buy anything, I doubt I'll ever buy anything non-functional again to be honest, and my sister has a few fossils already that were presented to her late husband, so the fossils were safe from us.
The re-stocking that really interests me is my cutlery wending its way back to my kitchen drawer :j I'm very excited :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning! I worked pretty hard yesterday, getting rubbish and recycling out of the house, cleaning the sink cupboard, started the cleaning on the understair cupboard by the back door, restocking the kitchen, voted (all local parties too ashamed of themselves to hover at the door taking registration numbers, which is what they all normally do). I've come far enough that my dishwasher load was almost normal, not dust/ plaster dust/ builder fingerprints :rotfl:
Today, I'm technically supposed to go into the town centre to the charity shop, buy some food, run some errands, and to be honest I don't really want toI'll carry on with the kitchen restocking till hunger drives me out
plus the garden became startlingly overgrown while I was in Kent, and is *again* in desperate need of attention
Laterz.

More done on restocking - organising what's there, too, thats important! Yet more dusty dishwashery activity, sadly
and after a good long lunch break
out into the garden to dig up the weed that was taking over at the bottom of the garden, plus ditto an alpine - it survives just fine in the shade, so it can't have very much of the sunny bit
I've put a bit of the floor protector the builders left (I asked them to leave it) over it - I'm going to plant the thyme I bought last week there. If something's planted and mulched, the weeds are a lot less. This is the secret of the universe

I haven't done it yet, mind youbut that space is definitely clearer. More glasses/ mugs/ teacups have come to re-enlist in my kitchen
It's a work of art, deciding how to use the new cupboards and spaces :rotfl:
