Alas not! Nor have I made it work this morning while whatsapping directly about it :( long live fan heaters, thats all I can say.
Hope the kitties were sufficiently cuddly to provide some warmth!

I did, thanks! Found the Army Museum, which has a study centre in the basement that you can join for free, with oodles of genealogical research available: my Ramgate MP of WWI, and my Napoleonic Irish soldier.

Also found this place nearby: https://sloanechurch.org/ the arts and crafts cathedral of London, it calls itself, pretty accurate too.

Shattered after that, I confess I've spent most of my time since then in bed, completely ignoring the boiler issues. I might be just about to get going :)

:kisses3: Sounds like you need it! I hope you have a lovely relaxing Easter time.

I'm at loose in the Big Smoke over part of a huge bank holibob. Hmmm! I was on tfl plotting how to get to the British Museum, and realised that most routes take me through Waterloo. Where one of the main climate change protests is being held. So I'm going to go have a look. I don't know if people are even being allowed near it, but it seems a bit insane to be only 100 yards away and not even inspect it - I'm a sucker for big events. Not festivals, but events. If I can't see it, I'll carry on to the BM, for a small (free) exhibition on the history of food production. I wonder if *that* will include climate change too! I watched David Attenborough *plus* the Age of Stupid thing last night, really something. I'm not sorry I'm getting the kitchen done, but it does remind me that I need to up my game in harvesting what I've planted, and in learning to do more ecologically.

Lol Karma - everyone else is trying to avoid the climate protests and you want to see them! :rotfl: :)

I think you're entitled to get the kitchen done - how long has it been since it was replaced? While ultimately we're all living beyond the earth's means, I think replacing a kitchen once it's no longer functioning/falling apart is acceptable. It's the people who replace them every 5 years because it's out of fashion (or IKEA which is apparently considering renting kitchens! ) that are really going out of their way to destroy the planet.

I too need to get better at the harvesting.... it's difficult to incorporate if it's in the garden and I don't remember it needs eating!

It's very me :D It was fascinating, actually - maybe 60% toddlers/ children/ pensioners. And they're not kidding about the amount of pot plants (up to and including shrubs) that are there. It's obvious that both protestors and police have put in a lot of training on how to keep the arrests peaceful, I've seen a lot of stuff go wrong in the past when young guys get arrested.

Thanks for this! Yep, it's just not fit for purpose, and the wall cupboards will triple the amount of storage in the little brick shed in any case. I've kept as much as I can: those cupboards, the wm and dw, the boiler, the f/f, and even the sink, though I *have* changed the taps - thats for the arthritis.

Absolutely! I think I need to make a routine, once a week, of making a salad of what's there - chive, salad burnet, oregano, sorrel, I'm sure there's a few other things.

Home again ... washing machine has been on constantly this morning, my sister drove me back from my railway station and took my bedding to wash and dry at hers ... so today is the last emptying out of the kitchen (minimal supplies are still there), and cleaning the last of the bathroom, so it's ready for the builders tomorrow. Gulp. Not your normal Easter.
