Ooh, I say! RT, thats quite an idea! I could definitely go for that in spring or summer
And Madvix, I remember that :j excellent :j
I doubt its going to be this week, sadly - instead of two Yellow Warning days at the Met Office, there are now four  i.e. from now till Friday! 0 centigrade is the high point in temperature terms
Dear me!
Supermarket delivery popped up on time - nothing missing, hurray. And I opened the post, after only 5 days :rotfl: the cheque for those shares I sold was there, so the trip tomorrow is definitely a banking one. After that and clearing the porch, I had a low key kind of afternoon, actually, mostly just downloading a few sorts of kindle books onto the app I installed - don't need them on the gadget, but good to have on the lappie.
Hope everyone has a good evening2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Thanks Apple, will do
It's very cold, very bright today. I can't decide if the whiteness out there is a severe frost or a light dusting of snow. Maybe both? Not going out just yet, anyway, but when I do:
- bank the shares cheque.
- get some cash out.
- order a chequebook.
- take some stuff to charity shop.
At home:
- try once again to speak with my brother, the 3rd day now, though we've been texting :rotfl:
- pot up the aloe vera plants for him, and check on the spider plants.
- scanning. Some of the paperwork still has to stay after that, but a lot can be thrown out once I've backed up the computer.
My lovely neighbour has once again parked his green bin on my hardstanding, bless his cotton socks for ever, I've checked with him, and of course people who look after their gardens don't have anything to put in those bins at this time of year, so it's fine. I'd better buy him another bottle of wine, though. Might sort out the front garden first, its just a thin strip of border, literally a couple of feet wide.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Sounds like a plan. KC:T
When we were young children we went with my parents to stay with my uncle and his family in Cheshire for a few days. I remember us all driving out in convoy to Manchester Airport (I think it was still called Ringway in those far off days) just for a day out:eek:. Air travel was such a rarity for ordinary people in the '50s and just watching the planes coming in to land and taking off seemed a huge adventure to my brother and myself. I think my parents got a kick out of it too. Of course, it was nothing like a modern-day airport with all the facilities, shops and eateries. I think we had a cup of tea there but that's about it.0 -
I like Rtandon's idea
At Manchester airport there's a really good visitors' centre (so I've heard... I've *not* been!). There's also a pub where you can watch the planes taking off.... it's very exciting if you're a plane spotter and the A380 comes in/departs (I know this because DH has a friend who lives nearby and frequents the pub for just that reason..... !)
Sounds like you've got a productive day planned out KarmaAnd your neighbour really does sound lovely!

A 'pick and mix' flight on the day sounds like fun
Hooray for good neighbours being helpful :j0 -
Fascinating! I shall definitely be heading to the airport on Friday, just in honour of this thread
My mum took us to Speke Airport once - I was about 12? - before The Troubles, anyway, and Ian Paisley happened to be landing, and I saw him. My mum was very firm that we shouldn't say anything or make any jokes - Liverpool was always a tense city in religious terms.
Not sure if there's still a visitors centre at my local place now - on the web, its just a tourist information centre, not about watching planes. I shall seeI'd really like to see an A380 up close! I did a tour of Concorde, including the cockpit, at the Bristol site, even though it was grounded by then it was pretty good
Picknmix flight will be later in the year
My bank errands went well: shares cheque paid in, got some dosh out, ordered a cheque book, I now use 3 or 4 cheques a year, but when I need them, I need them. I also got them to open a savings account - only 1.5% p.a., but its linked, and its an easy setup.
Charity shop was happy with the blouson jacket too, so this morning has been a real win

Good morning then
Concorde is now at a site about maybe 40- 50 miles from me.
