I feel KC's pain - although computers are supposed to make life easier, it so frustrating, sometimes
I'm not sure how simple and straightforward the first online renewal at 70 is Goldiegirl. We both did our first one by post after filling in the form that they sent. I haven't had to do another renewal for myself yet but will definitely do it online. We both had to send new photos that time, the previous ones were ancient:eek:. They said he didn't have to send one this time. There's his driver reference number on the reminder they sent with this current renewal which had to be input on the online form but the website also asked for passport number and NI number for identification purposes. OH had gone out and I didn't have these things to hand, I hadn't realised I'd need them:o. The online form allowed the option 'don't have this to hand' type of response to be selected for those numbers and thankfully the otherwise completed form submitted OK. I was issued with a reference number and also received an email with confirmation details too so I'm assuming it all went through OK:j
The proof will be if the licence actually turns up:eek:. Should be within 2 weeks according to the confirmation. Applicants have to cut their existing licence in half and return it to DVLA but we are waiting until the new one actually arrives first. The current one doesn't expire until March anyway.0 -
Thanks all
the HMRC debacle didn't spoil my day, ta muchly, but I did run out of computer-type energy midway through the computer class, so I tootled off early to Sainsbo, started spending the Nectar points, in case Nectar go kaput. £5 of £25 spent.
That meant I was tired after I got back - so today, I might try the card reader setup, if it goes smoothly, but the thing I really want to do is go to Wickes, the diy place, in the next town along from me. I'm going to get the kitchen fitted by them, so I want to actually get eyes on, and fingers on, before I make any decision about what to buy.
Hope everyone has a good Saturday2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Is there rumours that nectar are going kaput?Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

Oh! No, sorry, I didn't mean to start anything there - it's just my lack of trust in any big firm. Financial firm goes bust, you'll get the guaranteed reimbursement *eventually*, but when a shop goes bust, you lose out in all sorts of ways - I just don't want to take even the minimal risk that that might happen.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I see. Thank you for the clarification, we have about £30 worth of points so didn't know if I needed to spend them this morning. Phew.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

Nope, not this morning! It's just, the number of household names that took a dive last year was huge, and then the Christmas figures came out this week and they were horrendous. As I say, I'm off to Wickes this morning (and of course I'll need to pay in advance, and if *they* go bust, that will be a problem, but I'll pay by cc, and we'll see what we see) so on the way home from that, I'll drop off at the Sainsbo again and spend a few more Nectar points - anything comparatively light and high value - tea, for instance
Wish, are you saving your points for anything?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I usually spend them on my 2 year old's clothes when they have the 25% off weekends. Of all the supermarket they are the best quality, wash well and last a decent length of time.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

Sounds like the kitchen plans are full steam ahead, we've decided to put ours on hold until the remortgage is sorted.

As for the Nectar points, I've used £12.50 now, a couple of kilos of frozen veg, some tins of tatties and a bottle of avocado oil for summer drizzling.

He then said that kitchens cost £8000 - £10,000, plus the building work I need. Yikes. There are some appliances I don't need right now, though I do want some tweaks on the worksurface (brain fuzz won't let me describe it properly right now). And I'd better clear the decks - just like during a house sale, I don't want him to be enveloped in a gloom of "oh god, this entire kitchen needs to be gutted". He'll have enough of that going on himself, trying to get as much business and commission as he can!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
